Default I have nothing to bolt my seat down to?

I tried to search for it, but I couldn't even think of the right words to use for the search. So anyway, where I would bolt the seat down on the upper right side of the floor, there is nothing catching the bolt. See what I mean? I've let it go for some time now but with putting my GT3 seats in I figured I'd fix it. Does anyone know a solution?

u mean the front inside corner? it's supposed to be on that little stand that has the capture nut in it. if the capture nut is spinning, u'll have to make a new capture nut with some kind of arm so u can secure it

I had this issue on my 84. I drilled 2 new holes through the rail AND the floor, right behind the old ones where the capture nut had failed.

Not the cleanest way to do it, but it worked!

I've never herd of "capture nuts", but yes I the whole catching thing is gone. I just have this giant hole pretty much. And no not rust, I've never encountered rust of my car, and hope not to! How would I go making a new one? I have a full parts car if I can just rip it out of that one maybe?

And Sebastian, you should have just done this when you were here! :

Okay, that might just be something I'll have to do. Though I've never welded, so I might just be drilling through somewhere! Guess I'll find out. Thanks guys!

I thought I was alone! Front right mount on my car has been recreated by welding a strip in place... One reason I'm moving away from the late seats with the seat belt receiver attached to the rail!

The rebuilt mount looks solid, but I'm going to clean it up and spray over it before my appbiz carpet arrives.

Good luck!

I welded a 1/4" thick piece of mild steel, then drilled and tapped mounting threads.

both of the front capture nuts in my 944 are loose. the metal is broken on the left front mount. i was able to pound the metal back down around the nut with a shrinking hammer and it has worked temporarily. the real solution is to weld the area back together and weld the nut in place. it perplexes me why Porsche would use such a small 6mm bolt with a 10mm head to hold the seats in place.. one area where they really could've improved the design imo.

I had a similar problem on my '84. I suggest you cut a |_| around the hole and peel up the metal, fish out the captured nut, put it back into its little bracket, and spot weld the bracket. Or, you could get creative and weld some other kind of bracket/nut to the back of that metal. Then fold it down and weld it back together.

Do you have a welder, or a friend who welds? I don't think this can be fixed (properly) without welding.
