WTB: 944 S2. Please Help.
Ok, so about a month ago I sold my 1986 944 NA. Now I'm in desparate search of a good condition 944 S2. I would prefer to oblige the "Newest, Nicest" rule on this search. I also want it to have somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-80,000miles on it(or less obviously). I want the car to be up to date with maintenence. I also would prefer the car be White, Black, or Grey/Silver. Also prefer Black interior. My budget is $8000 and I would love to buy it before the end of this year. I prefer it be in California but, will consider an out of state car if I happen to fall in love with it. So, basically I'm asking you(the Rennlisters) for any help that you can muster to help me accomplish my goal. Post links or any info that may help. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I don't want a damn TURBO! Had to get that out there before any wise guy tried to make a suggestion. Haha

Hey good luck with the search. Make sure you wait for a good one and save up $ in the meantime. Heh! Oh, and how much did you get for the N/A?

I'd be less concerned with mileage and finding a Clean Car with great maintenance records.
I mean it's a 20+ year old car...
Under 100k miles will be hard to find.. and the seller will ask too much money for it... more than $8k at least..
Just my Opinion! i will certainly keep my eyes open, but i am East Coast in DC...

The amount of power/torque that an S2 has is how the 944 should have been from the start. The "pull" is astonishing, even in 4th gear. Good luck with your search, keep an eye on eBay. Maybe talk to Lart if he's got any leads on one worth saving...

Wow. Good luck. If you spend a bit more and flex on the color...

If I could buy another S2 with 60k and full maintenance for 8k, I would do so in a heartbeat.

I paid 6.5k for mine a few years ago in great condition with service records and 114k on the clock. I was patient and jumped on it when the right car appeared.

You might consider a well cared for 944s in that range, not as powerful as the S2 and just a 944 in so many other ways, but it is considerably quicker than the NA cars. Coming from my 924s into the 944s has been big improvment

Thanks guys for the insight guys. @Arominus- I'm only interested in an 944 S2. That's just what I have my heart set on. @bonus12- I got my asking price for it. @StickShift- I actually am only looking for a hardtop version. I'm not really into soft tops.

Here is another option, the car is a bit rough, but the price is close.

It's not that far from me though, if someone is interested, I could probably go take a look at it and give my opinions.

There's a great search tool for craigslist that I've been using which searches all of the locations - jaxed.com
It may not pull all of the 944 S2's as it only searches in Titles, but this quick search found a ton of them...

You can also use Jaxed for parts searches!
Good luck in the search!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all the help. Also, for the last time(hopefully), I only am interested in a 944 S2. Not a 944 NA, not a 944 S, not a 968, nothing else besides a 944 S2. Thanks.

Too bad you weren't around RL about 2 years ago. Bleucamaro from EG sold a really nice Nautica Blue 90 S2 that went to Oregon. I drove it and have to say the 3.0L NA punch was much better than I expected after owning a 951. It wasn't breakneck crazy like a modded 951 but pulled incredibly hard IMO. I'll keep an eye out but you might want to add the 968 back to your list also at the price point you are looking at. I've seen some great local deals over the years. You should donate that Haynes manual I gave you to another new 944 owner; karma you know?

I already did. I gave it to the guy I sold my NA to. Haha. I understand the availablity of the S2 isn't much but, my heart is already set. I'm not giving up until I have one. That's just the way I am.
