Old ET Phonies under '91 951 Cab must have been looking quite odd

if you get a chance, could you measure the inner diameter of your wheel?

i want to see if my 15" BBS will clear too
37cm at the rear then goes down to 35cm mid way and finaly 33cm where the hub meets the wheel (caliper doesn't go that far). I think if you have at least 35cm it should be fine.

Friday i got my 951 brakes from member "sdstimson" that i would like to thank ,real great guy to deal with, all parts are perfect and i got them in a mind blowing 2 days ,from USA to Italy in 2 freakin' days.

Bergamo is quite close to Rome... It's funny when person located in Italy buys italian made stuff from USA
I just test fitted a 951S front caliber under E30 BMW's 15" BBS wheels. Fit like a glove. I wanted to use 951 S front caliper with 16" new ET Phonies, let's see how they fit, or do i had to make some modifications
money talks...

Rock:
Theres a myth? I was rocking early offset phonies on a 1991 944T Cabriolet all the time. In fact my car got wrecked with one on the front (not the cause of the wreck). I put more phone dials on it from an 86 N/a and drove it home after all of the tires got ripped off.
Since you or anyone else may not have mentioned this to us before i consider it a myth.

It did look very odd. They also sat out a lot because of the offset, and it looked strange.

As far as I know no 951 came with 15 inch wheels. Are you sure you mean 951 part number on a phonedial.

I think they were used on very early turbo prototypes.I recal seeing a picture of a 84-85 turbo racecar with these wheels.
Maybe after that they put them on the 85-86 944's without changing the moulds.

So guys, just for a confirmation here: Will the standard early ET (ET23) 15" phonedials fit on a late offset car (ET56) with 944 turbo brakes? As i'm ready to fit my new brakes and i still want to drive the trackdays on "cheap" tyres..!

They will fit over the brakes but i don't think they will fit the late offset suspension unless you dial in a lot of camber
Rock seems to have done it but i don't know what his setup was

Well.. They are on my car at this very moment and fit perfectly! And yes i'm driving plenty camber at the moment (track-mode)

But i as i'm still driving the N/A brakes they'll fit the brakes easily. So this is actually very good news.. Saves me a lot of money!

The early offset will fit, it's the late that won't.
