So I said I was thinking about getting another 951, nothing like an impulse buy to liven up a Wednesday night:

The details are not too exciting:

- 1987 944 Turbo
- Ocean Blue with a black interior (sorta anyway, someone recovered the seats in a dark blue)
- 181k on the clock
- Two owner car
- Books and records going back to '99
- Almostly completely stock, and maintained with OEM parts at a Porsche dealer

The books and records are the best thing about the car, the 2nd owner would just drop it off with a laundry list of things to fix and the dealer would charge an arm and leg to get it back up to snuff. I have one bill from Jan of '08 for $13.5K (and that is not a typo). So if all goes as planned I should be able just enjoy the car in stock form for a bit as she take on the role of a daily driver.

The downside of this motor (channeling my best wheeler dealer) is the wear and tear on the body and interior. The lovely ocean blue paint has seen better days, the dash has the typical cracks, and the carpet has faded to blue (odds are why they recovered the seats in blue).

Curious, what did they have done for $13.5K?

Maybe you can find someone local that wants Ocean Blue and you and he can trade drivetrains, again.

Welcome back.

Nice one, man! Congratulations; sounds like a great pickup. Have fun with twice the maintenance, dude.

I'm also curious about the $13.5k bill... that's out of hand. What year was that? Let's calculate for inflation...haha. The biggest bill in my records is less than 4k in 1995. As for the paint, it looks as if it needs a clay-bar job. Wash the sweet puppy with simple green, clay her, and wax. I promise it will impress you.

Btw, the wheels + centercaps look great. Are they stock or were they treated?

MORE PICTURES!
MORE DETAILS!
MORE FUN.

The 13k repair replaced quite a few things:
Brakes
Oil Cooler
Power Steering Rack
Thermostat
Timing Belt
Accessory Belts
Battery
Hatch Seal
Dashboard Clock (BTW Broken again)
Sway bar end links
Windshield washer pump and lines
Door Handles
Keys
Repaired the speedo
Hatch and hood struts
Dome Light
Fixed the factory alarm
And for good measure they replaced the center caps on the wheels as well

And then then with the next year had an additional 5k in repairs to replace the DME and KLR, so we are only back to Jan of '08 and I am up to $18,000 in repairs. I am putting it all into a spread sheet today, just to see how much was spend on this car over the years (and to figure out what things I need to order sooner rather than later).
