Default need a ppi

I live about 8 hours away from this dealership and need a bit of help on this. The car is a 1984 944 currently at Woodys Automotive Group in Chillicothe which is north east of Kansas City Missouri.

Are there any fellow rennlisters in the area that can go put eyes, ears and foot to this car? Also does anybody know who can do a PPI on it?

Thanks in advance.

You mean this one?
http://www.woodysdjc.com/used/Porsch...e32a69a6bb.htm

I will be the first.. NO ONE would pay $7-10K for a 1984 944 with nearly 100K miles. Unless.. its the 2.5l V8 that it comes with

I do admit that it does show nicely.

What you want to know is
1) When were the belts / waterpump last changed (shop charge is likely $1500)
2) Is the clutch original (replacement, shop charge, is another $2K)
3) Does all the electrical work (sunroof, mirrors, seats etc) -old cars with less than perfect electricals can be an annoyance

If new to 944s, go here: www.clarks-garage.com and learn more!

Most will tell you that $6.5-7K is about the limit for a base model 944, assuming its condition, mileage, records are all excellent. Most base cars sell in the $2-4K range.

Not meaning to hi-jack, but what wheels are those and what does it take to get them on an early offset car?

They are aftermarket wheels. I have some too. Mine are "late offset" and fit my car fine. IIRC, they also made them in "early" offset. Couldn't tell from the pictures if these were "late" with adaptors or "early" and no adaptors.

Mine were made by Mille Miglia (you can see them in my avatar)

Thanks for the clarification. I thought they were stock wheels off another model porsche. They look very good on the 944 body.

That's the one. I owned a 944 in germany and brought it back back in 86 so I have some experience with the model. Based off carfax I wouldn't give over 4k. Yes all your points to look at are on my list and a few others to boot. Hoping to get a PPI to ring it out and see if it is as good as it looks. Thanks for the reply

Tim, I dont think offering him 4k will get em down on price. Your going to spend $150 to offer a guy 3k less than what he is asking? I dont see it working and only see you wasting money that can go towards a decent car with a decent price.

Just my opinion on the matter.

So true, this car has been sitting there since May 2011. Others have probably seen it as well and not worth the trouble has probably been everyones decision. This dealer can sit on it i suppose unless he comes way down......probably won't though. Looks good and very close to the one i owned minus the wheels, mine had fuchs. Well thanks again for thoughts.

btw- Don't be afraid to shoot the guy an offer. I have been watching that car as well. In Missouri often a dealer will stick a crazy price on any Pcar since there is a good chance an uninformed buyer will drop that on it just because it says Porsche on the hood. If he bought it like he should have and you make him a fair offer there is no reason he won't take it.

btw-there is another dealer in KC representing a gold 944 as a 40k car..if you see that one keep in mind it is a 140k car.

Thanks for the PPI info. I've been considering emailing the owner of that dealership directly. I'd like a PPI in addition to already known info about the car before i make an offer. I'll see how workable he is.

ernie- thanks for the tip on the 87 944, but i'm trying to get as close to the one i used to own. I loved the interior layout with the way the gages were and black on black of my old one.
