Default Almost a garage find

The jeep fenders are rusted through and I found a coupe of OEMs in the right colour on Kijjiji and picked them up today. In the garage was a black 944 turbo. I asked about it and the man says he''s selling it but hasn't listed it yet. It's an 88 stock, black with burgundy interior, sports seats in good shape, dash is good. He had it appraised for insurance purposes for $11,000. He realizes thats not market and he needs money.

What do you think the winning offer is going to be?

I'm assuming it's not running. I wouldn't turn the key until belts are checked...$5K to tow it away after you've established it's a solid car. Could be a nightmare.

Mileage and records are the big ones for me. If he's got a book of records going back to purchase and can show that it's got a solid history, then price goes up. But a burgundy interior is probably going to be a killer, I can't think of too many people that get excited about that.

FYI the car is in running order and under hood shows maintenance work, hoses and vacuum lines are newish. An acceptable PPI is a condition of the offer.

I wonder what the market is for a bone stock 1988 Turbo with low miles and good mechanicals in your neighbourhood. Just to set the bar so to speak.

Jim__you can't go by the US market, because it's completely different then up here.I'll say 8 to $9K will be a fair offer for a stock low miles 951 up here if like you said mechanical is A1 & the PO is willing to go througth a PPI.Peoples are still asking $5K + for some **** poor 86 exemple.

UPDATE ****

188,000 miles on the odometer. it might be Kms. I didn't ask if it was a US car. What I liked about it was the fact that the body doesn't have any dings along the side.

Doing some digging i found an ad back to August in a local biz classified and it was for this car. Says 179,000 Kms and asking $ 8995.00

I like the TV - that looks real useful. The ad says bigger motor, does it also have the brakes and other "S" options? that would affect value a bit.

This is a Canadian model 951 179,000 Klms will be aprox 135K miles which is about rigth for an 88.Not sure but I beleive it's a S hence the big turbo & 250HP.Comesticaly the car seem to be in pretty good shape except for the (passenger seat).A simular car but with more mileage came up for sale in North Bay last year & the guy was asking a little over $11K.

I'm thinking that with a satisfactory PPI this may be worth the trouble.

Well, just like anything else it's worth what someone will pay for it. I wouldn't go over $8k, there are good 968s available in the $10k-$12k range.
