I refuse to go without a/c. Power steering I can go without. If an outlaw is car that is built "outside" the box, then I'm certainly part way there with a custom covertable/targa top.
I completed the spare tire delete last night, and custom cut lightweight carpet for the trunk and rear seatback. Much cleaner look.
Weight savings not bad either, though that was not the point of this. 60lbs out, and 2lbs back in.

Four sheet metal screws takes it from this.
Down to this.
I have had this car for 8 years now, so it is getting a little hard to remember all the things that have come off of it, but here are some of the highlights.
A/C - still need to get to the hard lines someday
Power Steering - manual depowered rack
Windshield washer bottle
Belt Covers
AFM - MAF
All turbo coolant related items (turbo reservoir tank, cross-over, aux. pump, lines, etc.)
Cruise Control
Brake Pad Wear Sensors
Headlights, lifting motor, etc.

I agree. The 944 is an amazingly hot car with poor airflow inside. There are all sorts of cool old muscle cars and street rods with AC and power steering.
At some level I think these things should be retained just to keep the street nature of the car and because they came that way. The point of the outlaw is style and fun, not just a "street legal" race car.
For me I just want to simplify some of the interior. The 3 window switches on the doors could be easily narrowed down to 2 switches on the dash. The console could be cut down or eliminated and switches moved or deleted also.
I know guys that have eliminated all the comfort features in the name of weight savings for the track and as a result never drive their car anymore because it's a pain in the ***!

Thanks, it isn't quite that clean anymore but still pretty nice. Part of me feels an obligation to represent the 924 strongly. They really are great cars that got an unjust poor reputation. If it wore a VW badge it probably would be remembered as the great handling Porsche designed Goliath fighter. Instead it is an outcast for not being more like its more expensive brother.
I think it does alright with the roof out. We are in the mid to upper 90s and it is livable unless you are stuck in traffic.

My motorcyle and full gear is alright too when not stuck in traffic
But sitting in the Colorado sun in traffic with no internal air flow just sucks. Th A/C is worth every pound at that point.
Even on track days it's nice! Sure you lose a bit of hp, but if you are not actually in a real race it doesn't really matter.

Besides, early AC doesn't offer much airflow anyway. If I had a late car with functioning AC I would have left it in.

OUTLAW?
With a modern turbo and new fuel injection system, 951s are outlaws. In a few more years I will share some hilarious GoPro videos me and the 951 and the local law inforcement. Too soon right now(last weekend).
