Default Tight Silicone Hoses - How to get on?

Hi all,

I have the LR silicone cooling hose kit. But it is fighting me really bad at the heater core connections. I sprayed some lubricant on the fittings and on the inside of the hose. I got the upper, larger hose on with a lot of fighting, but the lower hose refuses to go on.

Before I cut up my hand any more trying to do this, are there any other tricks I can try? I think the lower hose is binding up on the upper hose, even with the lubricant. It's almost like there's no room here at all for both hoses. Too thick or something.

I have the clamps off for now but... any tips would be awesome.

Dish washing liquid. Small drop on your finger and smear the inside of the pipe and the fitting with a thin coat.

Better than WD40? I can give that a go. It still seems like the outer diameter of the hoses might be too big. Is it possible I have the wrong ends on?

Summit Racing probably has the Aeroquip or Earls hose lube. I have used the Earls with good results and I have ssen the Aeroquip work well too.

Rubbing alcohol will help it slip on and not leave slippery residue that may let the hose pop off.

Was a bit easier today after removing the waterpipe over the exhaust. Gave my hand a little more room. Also, starting from the top and then pulling down seemed to work as it helped prevent binding on the upper silicone pipe.

Both on there now and seem pretty tight. Been installing other lindsey hoses as well. They're a lot harder to get on, but lots of wd40 helps.

You're right about the residue helping pipes slide off. This happened a couple times during clamping. Or sometimes the clamps themselves would slide off. Bet rubbing alcohol works a lot better and a bit more temporary. I'll have to try that. Is it bad for the silicone though?

You ever get that sinking feeling wondering if you're going to have leaks all over?

it sucks. I bought them for my intercooler pipes and dread the hell out of it each time I take them on/off. But, I just use WD-40 and it gets the job done.

We used hairspray at bike shop to put On silicone grips. Slippery for about 15 seconds then glue.

Yes I did that many times but if you are a little long on getting it on you can be toast too.

+1

Brake cleaner works as a good lube that dries without staying slippery.
