Default What is the latest model Porsche seat that will fit the 944

I may be selling my RUF/Konig seats as I'm getting older and they're made for young men.

Does anyone know for sure which of the late model Porsche model seats would fit my S2 cabrio?

thanks

There are tone of threads on this, and essentially, they all generally fit. With minor modification 996 era seats work as well as 997's.

I know this because I have had GT3 seats in my 924S and 986 seats at one time.

What about the 12 volt connection? Will power work?

A more complete answer is that it depends on the sliders. Late 911 seats (996+) will fit with some simple slider modifications, but they are too high on all but their lowest settings and can be moved needlessly far forward. So much so, in fact, that it's possible for the headrest of the hard back reclining 996 sport seats to get stuck at the intersection of your roof and windshield if the back is tipped forward and the spring loaded slider is released.

Have you tried stock seats? Both the standard and sport varieties are comfortable and look good.

Seats that are a direct bolt-in replacement for your 1990 944 S2 and do not require any modifications are from the 911 1985-1989, 964 1990-1994, 993 1995-1998 and the 968. Seats from the pre-1985 911 may fit but I am not totally sure.

Your seats should have the electrical connectors that accept seats with full 12-way power and are heated. This includes the side and back lumbar adjustments.

As others have pointed out most other Porsche seats can be made to fit with some modifications.

I'm looking to fit a set of Cayman sport seats or 996 sport seats that are power.

See above. I've done it and didn't like the results.

That sucks, wanted to fit some Cayman seats. I wonder why they ride so high. I sat in a 996 a couple of days ago and it felt like I was in a truck, why the hell are the seats so high on late Porsches? gha.

Well looks like I'll try to find some 993 sport seats.

Buy racing seats, remove stock rails from old seats. Apply die grinder to non-compliant tabs and bracketry.

Add adaptors made from 7 Gage steel bar stock, drill matching holes in the whole lot, and bolt together with grade 5 bolts and nuts.

Adjust as necessary for pretty much any other seat.

Oh, wait - you want it to look nice and be comfortable. Nevermind.

Sorry, I know it's a useless post (like most of mine) , but it is a free bump, and emphasizes that anything can fit if you want it desperately enough.

I have Vic Elford's "How to Drive Your Porsche", and he emphasizes seat position in the opposite way - he says just be able to see over the hood (whic you don't need to actually see) jus as low as possible for center of gravity and other reasons. Wonder why Porsche doesn't concur. Maybe comfort. My seats are LOW, and getting in and out can be a bear, first time passengers ask me how I can stand it like that.

Fine once you are folded in and strapped to the seat!

Jeff
