1987 Porsche 924S 82k, NJ soft sale 2350 or BO
I recently bought a 924S with the intention of using it as a race car. It's previously a DD from a local guy who owned it for several years. It is in very good running condition. AC not working. 5 Speed. Just replaced the Bosh DME due to intemittant start. Starts on first crank and runs nice now. Interior in very good shape. Has typical cracks on dash but not as bad as usual. Just on the top of the dash. One split seam on driver seat. Porsche script seats. Silver with black interior. Has a large dent on the drivers door that can probably be PDR'd. New tires and brakes.
My main toy is a 928 and this years spring service went way over normal expense. Clutch and cam tower, ugh. I'm thinking of selling the 924S to fund some of the expense. I'm looking to get $2350 or bo - which is what I have in the car.
Clutch feels good but I don't have records when it was last done nor do I know about the Timing Belt. I do know the entire top end was rebuilt a few years ago by the PO so I assume it was done. Basically stock except the PO said he put in bigger brakes and an Alpine head unit.
Pictures to follow. I'm not in a rush to sell and not sure I want to. However the race thing never happens since I've got family stuff going on every weekend.

Battery tray is NOT rusted. 924S came with the 944 motor. Some say they are a little faster than 944's because they are lighter and more aerodynamic. Not trying to start a debate. Just what I've read here.

I've linked some external sites to this post so one never knows the level of knowledge a passer by might have. Maybe a newbee considering their first Porsche.
Yes, I've enjoyed it for a few months. My 928 doesn't have a sunroof. Nice to cruise with the huge open roof. Fun little car. Kind of hesitant to let it go so soon.
If no takers, I'll just keep playing with it.

Got some questions about it, idk if you can answer, but I'm sure someone could, the door panels and window switches can they be converted to the late 944 panels?
You said bigger brakes, do you know what off, like a928 or 951 or like big reds off a 993? Doubt the latter due to stock wheels.

I am pretty sure the late door panels for the door but they won't line up with the dash and it may cause interference when closing. I'm pretty sure it was discussed in a dash swap thread. I've been meaning to look it up.
I'm interested in the brake comment as well. Can you pull a wheel or two off and/or get us a pic through a hole in the wheel?
Edit: I did a quick search and here is what I found (I'm not saying it is authority, just comments from other threads)
-late doors and door panels fit late cars. Panels don't line up but it functions
-putting late door panels on an early car may take modification (unsure of what)
-window switches are not plug and play
-with slight modification, one can use late inner door handles with early panels
Po924s would be my contact. He did a late interior swap.

Don't know about late doors but previous replies seem logical. The brakes are NOT Brembo or big red or big blacks. Really not sure what the PO did. Guessing later model 944 brakes. Bigger rotors perhaps. Car is kept off site at a storage place. I'll go get it this weekend and snap some pictures.

Thanks! The headers & borla really make a big difference. V8 power feels and sounds great. This is my 4th 928. The oldest and my favorite. No unecessary features like sunroof, abs, power seats, computers, just old school super car fun. I'm in Montville, NJ.

What are the option codes ? Do you know the history of the car or why the decal and side rub strips were removed - was it repainted ? My brother who lives in Brick,NJ may be interested. Thanks.
