I don't think he did either. I don't think he would have played it down if he knew.
I don't have much to say except I feel and pray for you Lance, and the families of your friend. I have a close family friend up there who works at the Pentagon and after a few hours we got word he was ok and that was such a relief - shortlived when my thoughts return to the other God knows how many who died.
God bless America and the familes and friends of those who died.

rfuerst944s,
Tabor is obviously very, very, very ignorant, sort of par for USA home grown kids.
I, too, must have lost some friends in the WTC buildings. They were above the strike points. I feel sick to my stomach much less emotions.

Tabor, either you were ignorant about what happened, or you are a total fool. If the first, I forgive your response, but you might have asked what Craig was talking about before running off at the mouth.. If you are the second, there is little or no hope for the world. Thousands of people lose their lives and you say "So What?". You make Black951 look normal.

First- My heart is heavy for victims and their families, what a horrible event.
Second- We need to hunt down every last one of those who are responsible and make them pay ten fold for what they did!! Bad as it is we need revenge!

I used to work on the 101st floor of the world trade center. That was before I took a job at the federal building a few blocks away.
I heard on the radio that a plane hit the WTC, as I was going outside to see what I imagined was going to be a cessna hanging from the side a la the Kong movies I was raised on, I escorted the woman that sits next to me to a bar. She was freaking out saying "they couldnt get out, the couldnt run" etc. On the elevator a co worker was taking another co worker to the WTC to confirm he sister that works(d?) for Deutsche Bank was ok.
When I got outside and saw 2WTC on fire, I was looking at the area my desk was, which was above the gaping hole in the side of the building, and was asking myself if the firm I used to work for left after the '93 bombing. I saw a helicopter circling the building, and what I thought was another cessna circling 1WTC. Then, suddenly I saw flames shoot out of the 1WTC. I guess I saw about 500 or more people die in that quick flash of a few seconds. Cool huh? I dont think so!
I went back to my office, packed up my desk, and hopped on a subway towards Brooklyn with a co worker that went to the top floor of our building to see the "cessna" when he and a bunch of my co workers saw the second plane hit the building. When I saw the flash I didn't know what I saw, he knew what just happened.
Those of us that read more than just these discussion boards have seen an undercurrent coming out of Washington that we need a war to get military spending bills passed. I'm over 35 so I'm too old to be drafted, but I'm young enough to remember the draft. It's Vietnam II coming to a theater near you, only this time its atomic!
How many "degrees of separation" will it be for each of us to someone that died today?

Three Wheelin'
My deepest sympathies go out to those of you with friends and families involved in todays tragic events.
It would be even more tragic if nothing changed as a consequence of today (but I think that is unlikely). Sadly it usually takes something like this for people to realise that changes are necessary. I know i won't complain if tougher security measures are introduced at airports and such. Extremism took on a new meaning today as far as I can see and clearly the dangers exist right here at home not just on foreign soil as some like to think.

How dare you suggest that this was a political move to get military spending passed. That is un-called for. I watched the previous administration in this country do MANY hienous things, finally we get someone respectable in, and you dare to suggest we did this to ourselves, what an ***. You better thank God Billy isn't running the show today, at least with GW I feel we will be vindicated, not mearly showered with "can't we all just get along" BS. The rest of your post was very sobering. This is an epic tragedy, I certainly hope you see past whatever political views you have and see this for what it is. This is terrorism, we must pull together from all sides and rise to the challenge. We can not allow this to go unanswered.

Bastards!
Thats all I could come up with. The scariest part for me wasn't the successful execution of a complex terrorist act. It was seeing the little palestinian kids celebrating in the streets throwing candy arround. What is wrong with these people? Celebrating when thousands of innocent people are murdered. Makes me want to vomit. Make me want to reenlist.
