Installed a Hamburg technic tie rod end.....
I needed a new manual steering tie rod end and my dealer gave me a hamburg technic tie rod end..... I wasn't paying attention that they are crap and I ended up installing it....... I noticed that when you tighten the cast elated nut down the locking pin won't clear. I ended up using a locking nut I got from the dealer.
I need to make a 500 km drive tomorrow and not sure how safe this is. I just looked online and hamburg technic seems to be a cheap chinese knockoff company. don't know why my porsche dealer gets them.

yeah inner tie rods and other tie rod end are lemfoerder. I just damaged the driver side tie rod end and my porsche parts dealer gave me a hamburg technic and from what i have seen online hamburg technic is a cheap chinese made part.

You should be OK for the time being, but I would not put any money on that part lasting very long. Hamburg Technic is pretty well known for selling products that are inferior to other manufacturers.

yeah I know. I couldn't get the cast elated nut to go low enough to get a cotter pin on it so I used a lock nut, not sure if it is because of how it's built.

Also got mine from Pelican Parts... not super duper expensive.. like $70 for the entire tie rod. Thought I might as well replace 27 year old parts, even though there was basically no play anywhere. How much did the dealer charge you? Also, the OEM rods came with the castle nut and cotter pin, both zinc plated

Weissach they sell porsche and lamborghini and do parts and service here in Vancouver.
I got the manual steering tie rod end for $44. I bought inner and outer tie rods from them 2 years ago and it was Lemfoerder.
I think i'm going to remove the Hamburg Technic and put my Lemfoerder back in..... I replaced my tie rod end because the top part was a little banged up from removing it and I was worried about that...... but I think I feel safer with that than a part made with chinese steel.

The same place also gave me two bad rebuilt water pumps.....they use Worldpac as their rebuilder which I've heard is crap.
I usually use paragon-products, and had always gotten quality parts. pelican and zim's seem safe also.

Weissach...... is not a Porsche dealer.... but they do deal Porsches. They are independent, with no real connection to Porsche AG in Germany.
MCL is just one block south of Weissach, and is the Official Porsche dealer in Vancouver.
All that aside, I found Weissach's customer service quite poor. They don't even pretend to give a crap, when they find out you have a 30 year old 944. Bought some part from them years ago, and they were overpriced. Pelican has been my "go to" place ever since. I get all my stuff send to Ship Happens in Sumas, and go pick it up.

^true. I only buy parts from them when I'm in a hurry to get a part and they can get it for me faster. but yes they are overpriced for most things. their rebuilt water pump for 150 sounds like a good deal but they are garbage.
I once took my 944 there for belt tensioning and the tensioner was turned the wrong way and my timing belt was too loose.
