Well I worked on it tonight. Putting the manual latches on my old roof (which is damaged) and taking off the cover bracket of the electric slide assembly in the rear. The plastic base of the mechanisim is in the perfect place for the manual latch to leverage against.

Getting out the tubing of the old electric mechanisim was the hardest part (it interferes slightly). I also had to remove the headliner as it doesn't allow the manual clasp to go down far enough. So I'm running without a headliner at the moment. The headliner is held on by one time use only plastic rivets. I was going to ask if there was any source for these so I could move the manual headliner over. But considering how fragile it is I think I'll keep it on the new one and get it painted with it on. I might pick up a can of spray paint tomorow and paint the interior of my old one so it doesn't lok as wierd on the inside in the mean time.

The manual latch holds the sunroof down so well it's amazing. Getting it in and out is very easy, probably as easy if not easier than the electric way, with no fear of stripped gears. I would definitely recomend the conversion to anyone.

And for you suppliers out there. if you could make a manual latch with a slightly offset handle a conversion kist would consist only of swapping out the latch and removing a couple of pieces. I highly recomend it.
