Angry Rear ended, car was totaled

Last Friday I was rear ended on my way to work, my 89 NA is now history. The frame is crimped and bent, the insurance company totaled it, I just found out yesterday.

Have a toast in her honor, she served me well. She will be missed, but parts of her will live on in my next project, I bought her back as salvage.

Fortunately the tool who hit me has decent insurance, as soon as my back and neck feel better I'll be starting on another one.

Mike.. very sorry to hear, however, good news that you are still around to have another.

Shoot the parts out to the masses and let her live on. Any idea what you'll be looking into as a replacement?

Thanks Perry, I'm in the acceptance phase at this point, and you are right, I am grateful to be here. The guy skidded over a hundred feet before he hit me, he must have been really moving.

I have an 86 NA that needs a valve replaced I picked up a year ago cheap, needs some body work, dents in both rear quarters. I was planning on building it for my wife, but she already has two cars. I also have an 87 S in the garage with no motor at this point. I have a 968 engine in pieces that I'm thinking of putting in the S. I had just bought a complete suspension upgrade for my 89, but had only installed the rear shocks so I still have all those parts as well as a brand new sport clutch. The 87 will need some paint work, but I'm leaning toward making that car a project. I have a 968 interior in my 89 that I'll pull, as well as decent rims and 968 brakes. All this added to the S should make for a fun car.

Since that will take a while, I'm thinking of getting the 86 going while I work on the S.

Or maybe I sell all of that stuff and buy a Turbo!

Glad you're ok.
The S sounds like a good project. Put the 89's motor in the 86 so it's driveable. Swap all your good stuff to the S, and put in the 968 engine. Part out what ever you don't need to help finance the project.
After it's running, pull the 89 engine's 2.7 head for the 968 engine and turbo it! It sounds like you have all the parts neccessary for a great machine.

Yep, I don't even start any of my cars before I put on my seat belt. I get the car back tomorrow, I'll post some pics. It's one of those deals were it looks like it was fixable until you get in to it.

Does anyone know what it would take to move the ABS system into the 87 S? If I remember right it was an option in 87 so all the wiring should be there. I'm thinking it should just be the hubs and sensors, control unit and pump. Any thoughts on this one? It would make a diiference to me since I drive mostly on the street and have had 944s with and without and I prefer to have it with on a street car.

Since you have all the ABS parts it should just swap over. The 87 S had ABS as an option so I would think that the wiring is in place.
