Anyone here own this 944 Turbo in CT? Abandoned? Stolen?
I'm trying to find out more info about this 944 that's been parked in the same spot near my office now for a good 3 months. It was left before the two snow storms we got and was completely buried. I stopped by the other day to see if there was some sort of note or any identification on/in the car that I could see, but there's nothing. It "appears" to be in nice shape inside and out. Wondering if this was abandoned, left there because it's dead or if the it was stolen or something.
The BBS rims are painted white. There are a few chips in them that show they were originally gold (white looks ten times nicer).
I wouldn't mind snagging this as my first 944.
Thanks in advance for any info.

My guess would be the flat tire might have something to do with it. But I'm guessing if it sits there too long, the town/city is going to impound it.
If you have any friends at the police department, maybe they can come run the plate?

Yeah, but 3-4 months is a long time to ignore a flat. I do have some indirect connections at my local PD. That's a good idea.
EDIT: A buddy just told me the cops get hung out to dry when running unofficial business. Grr.

This is interesting. let's get the vin, because with the vin + plate #, we can use the dmv website to see if it needs smogging. and we can see it's smog history. we can get more information on it.

I had a spare CARFAX report to run, so here you go, PDF attached.
1986 Porsche 944 Turbo. The VIN is WP0AA095XGN157130. It was very recently registered on 2/28/2014, so the owner hasn't abandoned it.

That is pretty weird… You should keep an eye on it and tell us what happens. Strange choice of car to get beached like that. I would imagine a stolen car not getting parked as nicely as that is, but I could be wrong

Call the city and ask them? They may be able to say if it is stolen or not.
Other than that the note is a good idea presuming the owner checks on it every now and then.

Wow, thanks for the Carfax! Didn't know you could do it based on lic plate. Seems pretty low mileage based on the age for sure. Curious that is was re-reg'd mid-way through it being left there.
Will, it's in Fairfield County.
I contacted the CT Porsche Club and got a fairly terse response from them, so that was of no help.
I'll leave a note today.

Getting bad flashbacks of an old 928 that was left to rot in a driveway in the town I grew up in. Owner refused to part with it on the grounds that "he was gonna restore it soon." The poor shark was eventually put out of it's misery by a tree blown down in a thunderstorm.
