Default Ambient Temp Guage reaading alien numbers

My temp guage that shows outside temp on my 94 968 has gone bonkers again. Dealer says there are no more supply from Porsche dealers in USA.

Does anyone had any idea where I might find one of these units, or fix them?

I need one, too. Did you ever locate one? Looks like mine gets power to the screen, but no image and buttons don't do anything.....

Did you try contacting any of the Porsche dismantlers? The part number is 944-641-223-00-01C and I'm sure you can find a functioning one.

A lot of times the problem is easy to see on the circuit board inside. You can try opening it and looking for a lifted trace, burnt resistor, etc. I've had to fix 2 so far and both were easy to do (once the dang thing was removed from the dash!).

So, did you have to replace circuit board, resister or do soldering? I'm not a great electrician. I'm still on the hunt..

There was a lifted trace (in other words, one of the silver lines on the circuit board had overheated and severed). I soldered on a jumper wire, and it was fixed. If you know how to solder (even basic level) you can do this.

If you want you can send yours to me and I can do it for you.

Either way, good luck.

On my W126 Mercedes, the outside temperature was stuck at -33 degrees. I soldered in a new thermistor at the end of the probe for $0.50 and it fixed the issue - it might solve yours too. Electronics on these cars are still relatively simple. The one in the 928 looks like it is a 3.3k ohm thermistor fwiw - it is probably the same. http://www.nichols.nu/tip432.htm
