My parts suppliers have Laso, Geba, genuine Porsche and one that just says OEM. I can get you prices with shipping to Canada on all of them or just one, etc.... These pump are the turbo version's.

Looks Real
It has the triangle marking and appears to be new not rebuilt, and it came in a Porsche box. I doubt if there are counterfeits with the Porsche triangle seal in the casting but anything is possible. I suspect it is New Old Stock (NOS); on one of the box labels it says 03:06:91 which may be a manufacturing date of June 3, 1991. The impeller and pulley turn smooth with no wobble or play. I haven't installed it yet but looking closely it looks legitimate to me, still I'm no expert.

I just purchased a new water pump from Zim's and installed it. So far so good, just completed two DE days at NOLA. Temps were good and no leaks.
When I called Zim's I was going to order a rebuilt pump but they did not have any so bought the new one. It was a steal at $136.00 and I did not have to send a core back.
I questioned who the pump came from but the person I spoke to did not know. He told me that the person that rebuilt the pumps for them was retiring so they were going to have to find someone else to do it for them.
He said that they have not had any problems with the new pumps so far. It also comes with a gasket in the box. If you order one make sure you get the new hardware kit to install it.

Any chance you snapped some pics of the unit before install?
Maybe some forum vets could look at the stampings for country of origin, manufacturer, etc.. ?

VirginiaF1,
Sorry, I did not take any photos of the new pump. I examined it and did not see any identification markers on it. The box was plain white with no writing on it.
The guy I spoke to told me about the re-builder and that he lived on the Gulf Coast and that he was retiring so someone at Zim's should know where they were getting the new ones from.
I examined it closely and compared it to the original one that was on my car and it looked to be of good construction. The seal had started leaking on my old one.

The new pumps Zims sells are the URO brand. Ordered one with fingers crossed and it didn't help. They no longer have the rebuilt ones and haven't for several weeks.
Mine is already RMA'd and I ordered a new Porsche OEM kit from Neil at Sonnen Porsche with the 2 year warranty for $255 including a $67 core charge to help offset costs of the new ones...they are sent to the rebuilders.

No, he wasn't sure, but it is OEM and it is brand new, not a rebuilt. We'll see and give it a try. It is "Genuine Porsche OEM". Whatever that may mean in this case. Porsche has given it their seal of approval..and it has their 2 year warranty.

I'm trying to decipher this thread! Prices from +500 to under 150? Damn, thats a spread.
To confuse this further for me is whether I have an old pump or not.
One side has 944 106 122 7r the front is shown here.
Which one do i have? It should be rebuildable, still turns smooth, I had a leak but it may have been the gasket.

I have 300 k miles driving these cars.
I don't recommend rebuilt pumps.
the best new stuff out there won't take you much past 60 k miles.
but, the Gates belts can go well past that. get everything from German Autoparts or Zims.
enough with all the song and dance. no whining... get everything, belts, pulleys, tensioner, seals, and pump....
if it's a 968 add cam chain, pads, hall effect sensor and ac pump.... that's it folks. no way better.
no easy solutions. every 60 k miles change it all out.
these cars cost a small fortune to run. pay or gtfo.
no whining. accept it... if you can't commit to this, then get another car.... or go V8.
sorry.
