I took a 4.2L 6-cyl, 12 valve Jeep head for a valve job. I was getting prices of $250-350. I'm pretty sure most places do 3-angle jobs by default.

$350ish included cleaning, welding up some corroded parts of the face, milling, new valve guides, lapping the valves, and installing my valve stem seals.

I believe Porsche calls for new valve seats when new valve guides are installed. This was not done.

the head work was 700 which included milling the headm three angle valve job, new seals, etc., then there is the labor for the head gasket, while you are at it might as well do the belts and water pump, should i continue.

my machinist does all sorts of race engines and charges a lot, but he does an awesome job - this is on my lancia head - it was $500 for a complete rebuild, but the guides were good so it was $300

My head rebuild was $100, I provided the parts, and it included smoothing the head, valve seats, replacing valve seals, cleaning the head. came back looking new.

$250 for all but valve guides and they even dismantled a head I had for parts and replaced a couple bent valves with used ones from the dismantled head.

$462 for resurfacing, two exhaust valves, one intake, all valve guides, I provided an additional exhaust valve and valve seals. Looks like a new head!

Mine cost $450 Canadian (I supplied the parts).

Had 8 bent exhaust valves - new valve seals, seats/guides, tappets/hats and springs. Surface was shaved also.

I know Markus in Ontario charges a flat fee of $500 to re-do the head. I think this includes the "works". He explained that he uses a cold/hot method when installing new valves, etc.
