I finally got my lasik surgery done today....started at about 1130 and ended at 12.....

everything went smooth.....and the reults are good so far......before i wouldnt of been able to see anything sitting across a counter at the medicine shop and now i was able to see it.....and the stop signs at the end of my street....no way.....now I see them with no prob....and the best thing is, my vision is getting better as time goes on....

just thought i would share this with the gang...

I have been thinking about this for years-- 299$ an eye around here - it's almost cheaper than new spec's..
Now if I only had one eye..

Keep us informed on your progress. I've only known one person who had it done. Liked what it did for his far-away vision, but his eyes did not focus as well close up afterwards. Still, he had no regrets in having it done.

I forgot to mention my father had this done a couple of years ago. He's had absolutely no problems at all. He needs reading glasses now, but that's just old age.

I know one person that loved it for the first couple of years too and he now wears reading glasses also. The place gaurentees that you will be happy until you die so they are going to redo his again. But he opted to wait for 2 years until a new laser is approved. When the new laser is approved you will not have to go back and have the surgery touched up again.

It will be four years for my wife, she had the mono vision done, one eye near sighted one eye farsighted. She went form seriously thick glasses (blind as a bat) to 20/15 vision! She gets a checkup every year. I wouldn't go for the budget places, the doctor who does the work is the key. It was $5500 for her four years ago, the reputable places are still up there in price. I have several friends who have had it done with similiar results, reading glasses are to be expected when you get to your late forties, early fifties.

Check into those $299 an eye prices and you'll find that they aren't what they seem. Those are for very minor corrections and no pre or post care. My boss had that done for $499 an eye and the total bill was somewhere around 3.5k by time he was done with all the care needed.

I never used reading glasses before -I could read tiny text but was told up front I would be trading near vision for far. It was worth it. I can buy normal sunglasses and not have to worry about contacts when I snow/water ski, run, bicycle, etc. I read a LOT, but it doesn't bother me to wear reading glasses. Near vision loss is a function of age -it would have happened anyway and you can't do anything about it other than have one eye corrected for near, one for far. I know a surgeon who had that done to him and he says it's perfect. I didn't opt for it, sounded weird to me.

I can watch operations, I don't cringe at the sight of blood and I'm not afraid of needles...but something about firing laser beams into my eyeballs doesn't sit right with me.

i've actually been thinking about this for a few months, i know a few people who've had it done and loved it. i'm only 20, so i'm hoping if i do it now i won't need glasses for a good long time...

I am 22 years old....i want to get into the FBI but there standard for vision, i failed....like 20/200 uncorrected....I surpass that by a long shot...

so far I'm happy with what i got....i see halo's around light but i figure that is a initial thing....the halos get dimmer and dimmer as time goes on too

the cost for me was 1999....oringinally it was 3700 but they were offering a incinative 1000 dollars off....and plus since im military they took another 700 off....its a lifetime commitment....i can go back and have it done for free if i want improvement....but if i get 20/20, I'll be 100% AOK on that.....20/15 would definately be nice.....

I will definately be buying me a nice pair of sunglasses tomorrow....i always wanted a pair and now I can have them....

I will keep everyone posted on this....and if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask me...

I had the old-fashioned Radial Kerototomy done in 1990 (at Emory University) so I could qualify for the Police. You have to be awake for the surgery, I needed alot of Valium. There was no laser, just me, my nerves, the surgeon, the scalple and a whole heap of faith!!!

I still see 20/25 from 20/100 and never regretted a moment. (I didn't go into the police dept though.)

They were working on the laser at my last touch-up. They were frying Polaroid film with the laser. I said I would NEVER let someone do that to me!

Congratulations, for those of whom who never had the trouble of poor eyesite will never understand what a true gift good eyesite is!!! (Any eyesight for that matter, I was blind after both surgeries for a week!)
