I have full databases of all 4,242 North American 968s. for 968s, every year starts out with VIN 61. Porsche held the first 60 VINs for internal use. The coupes and cabs have their own VIN series so there are two 61s for every year. As far as the end, that depends on how many they produced. As for where they are? I've been tracking them for years. I can tell you the last coupe (SS820319), a black 95, went to Canada.

A few years ago PCNA celebrated selling cars in the US for 60 years by tracking the oldest car in each series. My cab took the honors for the 968 being #9 (NS840069). cab #8 is around someplace. I've seen it. #1-#7 cabs, although produced, look to have never made it to the US. Coupe #7 is around in the US someplace as well.

The build date will be on a black rectangular sticker in the engine bay by one of the strut towers if memory serves me right, as I'm not at my car to look.
