Reason for doing this, I want to see who has the newest and, or oldest 944 on Rennlist(and also something for me to do to pass the time at work). So here's what I want to do:

1. I'm going to organize an entire list here with every single 924/944/951/951S/944S/944S2/968 owner here by year, VIN number, and Build Date. That way, we can see who has the oldest or newest car here, maybe we'll even get some sequential VINs as well.

2. To do this, you'll need to post your username, what year car(s) you currently own, and their respective VIN number(#) and I'll create the list below! If you want, you can even throw in a picture of the car(s) because a thread is useless without pics!!

Also, if you know your car(s)'s color(s), add them as well!

3. If your car befalls an unfortunate fate or is sold on, LET ME KNOW so I can either cross it off the list or remove it entirely.

4. Acronyms

CO- currently owned
PO- previously owned
P- parted
D- dead
X- unknown(sold car but unsure of it's current whereabouts ect.)

5. If at some point I list a car that was PO by one member, and a current member does own the car, let me know so I can update the list appropriately!

I have 8 944's right now, almost 35 of them total.... This might take a while.

You should do a search also. A number of years ago someone started a thread trying to find the earliest U.S. 944. I think the earliest car someone found was built 2/82 (yes 1982 - very very early 1983 model year). AFAIK there were no U.S. 944s sold as a 1982 Model Year, all as 1983. Under normal circumstances a 2/82 car would be sold as an MY82, but Porsche wanted to keep the first ones as MY83.

I think someone on here also has a very early Turbo built in 1984 for the 1985 model year - a preproduction car.

You should list them by model year, but include build month. Some cars may not have sequential VINs but may be built the same month. To that end, VINs of different models aren't really comparable in terms of when they were finished. If that makes sense? I.e. a Turbo's sequential production number (last digits) won't be near that of a 944S, even if it was built the same day - the sequential production numbers are exclusive for each model.

Amd also start in 1977, for the 924s!

User Jeff968 can help you with 968s - he runs the registry and is very knowledgeable on all things 968.
