Default Early offset Turbo phone dials on a late offset car - for your viewing pleasure

Well, I know from cruising these forums for a while, that those of you running Cookie Cutters and early 15x7 Phone Dials on late cars achieve a nice look and a welcome track width increase.

That said, there has never really been good documentation of early Turbo dials being fitted to a late car...probably because no one has wanted to waste their time on something that most likely won't work.

Fortunately for those of you who are curious, I do indeed like wasting my time on things that most likely won't work. Long story long, I was at a friends shop and they had some Turbo Dials from an '86 laying around, so I decided I'd throw them on and snap some pics to share.

The alignment specs on my car are as follows: Lowered about 1-1.5 inches, roughly -1.5º degrees of camber at all four corners.

Behold:

So there ya have it. After some scrutinizing, it looks like if I raise the rear end a hair, get a little closer to -2.0º camber all around, and lightly roll the fenders, they'd definitely fit. That said, I'm not sure I want to go to all the effort.

But man it looks good...

You're welcome.

Good work! I have already seen done on a few track late 944s. The key is negative camber and stiffer suspension. Otherwise you will experience tire rub.

Haha, yeah we loaded three people into it to see how bad it would rub and the fender lips immediately started eating the tires. I do still have some alignment work to do on this car, so I may be back to mess with stuff. If thats the case, I'll have some updates on this. I do have the chance to pick these wheels up for cheap, so its somewhat compelling.

Default R

Roll the fenders and run with it if it suits you looks like you are close to clearing.
Seen it done using a baseball bat with a heat gun so the pain won't crack .

I'm thinking of going down that route. Only hinderance I've found is a paint chip that conveniently revealed some very light Bond-O work done to one of the rear fenders. Makes me a little nervous, but the paint is far from perfect anyway so I don't have much to lose.

Technically, no. They belong to a friend who feels he owes me for some bottom end engine parts that saved his autocross car literally a week before the season started. If they don't end up with me, He'll keep em. If they do and I end up not using them, I'll letcha know
