Unhappy anyone else have this same problem

ok,

the head unit in my car, is very hard to see/if not impossible to see. especially if I have the top down, wearing my sunnies.

if the top is up or at night its ok, I've played with the flip cover but am not happy. it doesnt help that the location of the head unit means that the stereo is at an upwards angle and not hoizontal.

without butchering the console, I cant lift the back higher. I'm sure this would solve the problem. I though about relocating/swapping it with the heater contol, but thta is not deep enouf

there is no illumintion/contrast control (Clarion tape/with MD changer)

any one else have this ? any other cab user have same problems ?

cheeeeeers

btw a picture of my head unit is on my site, see Porsche, projects or technicval FAQ

Buy a Kenwood with the rotating faceplate. You can adjust these by several degrees and they have a wide range of contrast and color settings, it will solve the problem for you. I have one in my car.

I have a Kenwood unit and even with the top up on a sunny day it's hard to see. Can't do much about it though, just have to memorize which songs are on each CD.

At night however - no issues whatsoever.

My Blau allows you to adjust the viewing angle of the LCD display. Handy for the driver. 'Course, I'll need to cut the roof off to test it properly...

Where did I put that chainsaw???

As you mentioned already you don't have a contrast control, I think that is the ticket, I adjusted the contrast on my Sony deck and don't have any problem even in the daylight with the sun directly on it.
