The trans wasn't shifting very smoothly and upon further examination, it appears that I bent the shift rod when I was removing the transmission.
Is it possible to remove the shift rod without removing the transmission completely?
On a good note, I got the cam chain and pads replaced and everything on the head bolted back together.

Part of my plan is to replace a bunch of things but I ran out of time to get it ready to go to RSR.
Quite a few of the replacements are related to the change to the MegaSquirt system and since that didn't happen, I put some of the old parts back.
My car spent several years in Ohio so there were a lot of things with corrosion that doesn't happen in Arizona.
I replaced the cam pads and chain and used all new bolts for the cam caps.
I replaced the cam pulley bolt.
I replaced all the seals and gaskets and O-rings, etc.
I replaced the valve cover with one I had powder coated.
I replaced all of the cam cover bolts with stainless ones. (I did use one old short bolt since the PET LIES!!! The PET calls for 10 long ones and 3 short ones. In reality, you need 4 short ones and 9 long ones)
I plan to replace the AOS when I tear everything back down. I have heard that it can fail and cause a lot of oil to enter the intake like I am seeing. I hope that is the issue but eventually the whole engine is going to get a complete rebuild.

Dear AZ: Yes the PET does lie..I found this out when replacing all the fastner hardware on my engine with stainless..They would call for a certain bolt length, but it would be either too long or too short or in some cases the wrong diameter. It's a onsey-twosy type deal and you need to be careful with the fastners.

I've been practicing my mechanic skills since I got back from RSR V. A friend is the west coast distributor for the Ariel Atom and one of his customers put their car into the wall at Inde Motorsports Ranch in southern Arizona.
Another friend and I took everything off the old frame before RSR.
The new fram arrived and we are putting it back together.
Yes, I will be able to say I rebuilt an Ariel Atom from a bunch of parts.
We should have it on the ground and aligned later today. A few misc parts are on their way from TMI and it will be ready to hit the track again(just not the wall).

There are the 2 o rings that go to the block, and then there is a third o-ring between the "PCV cap" and the can itself.
This is not a part listed in the PET but I do have a source for them. I actually have a single such O-ring left, if you want it. I replaced mine on my car but had to buy a minimum of 10. PM me if you want it!

There is a problem with my coil over kit. The springs are too long. I've got them set as low as they will go and my car is still way too high. I don't know if I needed a different kit for an S2 or what the issue is.
The spring compressor I used scraped up the finish pretty bad on the springs so I don't know if Jason at Paragon will be able or willing to do an exchange. If not, I'll have a nearly new set of 225# springs for sale.
I do like the camber plates and I put a set of Elephant Racing castor blocks on as well.
One strange thing I found with my suspension setting is that it was pulling to the left but I had 6 mm of toe out on the left and 8mm toe out on the right. It seems odd to me that with more right toe, it was still pulling to the left( I won't be going back to the same shop that did that alignment!!!!). Any ideas what would cause that strange behavior?
I now have it set to 1.5 mm toe out on each side and I am still getting a little pull to the left in some situations but it goes straight most of the time. Any ideas would be appreciated.

is the spring rate too high?
