Default Bought my first porsche - 1980 ("931")

I had posted here a while back, ended up buying a 924 turbo.

Needs an ignition switch and a timing belt just to be safe, then I'll find out what exactly I bought.

So here it is:

1980 931 with 67k miles
Absolutely no rust, newer paint job done last year by the owner (owned a bodyshop).
Interior is decent for what it is.

Here is where I could use some help, the option code sticker is not in the back...
It has the 5 lug wheels + discs, electric mirrors, Looks like AC, rear wiper... so it seems like the owner spared no expense and got everything. I don't have a jack so I can't see if it has the LSD yet but I assume it does.

Is there anywhere else on the car that lists the options?

You got a potentially very nice car there. Right on bud.

A COA (Certificate of Authenticity) from Porsche will help. I've always thought the 924 Turbo was a great looking car. Some parts have become very expensive or NLA. If it runs good some TLC will pay dividends as these cars are starting to move $ wise.

Spend some quality time cleaning everything and enjoy, you should be in good shape. The COA would be the other way to get the options.

do the 924/931 cars have a build/options list on the driver's side interior under the carpet like 944 cars?

Someone with access to Porsche's database can look up the options using your VIN. Hopefully someone will offer to help you. I was in the same situation a few years ago and someone offered to help.

Looks pretty clean. It definitely wouldn't take much to make that nice. Is the paint as nice as the pictures how it to be?

I'd run the VIN on Carfax and look for hits, unless it's pretty shiny underneath the dirt it's probably a 167k mile car.

Aside from the pretty paint and options crap..

This car has the low compression S1 engine, Big S1 turbocharger (if original), simple good bulletproof S1 ignition, arguably the strongest/best 24/44 transaxle likely with LSD, 16" forged fuchs wheels, a lot of the the goodies..

Add an IC of some sort or meth injection to fend off detonation, a bit of cheap tweaking here and there, and this car has what it takes to be quite respectably fast in all directions..

931 S1 is pretty much the best base 24 if you want to mod, you already have 5-lug, $ for $ its very hard to beat..

Awesome car, absolutely THE narrow bodied 924 I would choose of them all..

Thanks for the replies, especially Eddie as he has been answering some questions on 924board. I bought the car being told the ignition switch bad, butit turned over and started firs try on old gas. (I know it's a no-no without changing the timing belt but its been stored inside and looks brand new)

The inside fuel pump made a ton of noise originally and so did the distributor(which I guess is normal). I guess someone jumped the pump because the relay is gone, posted a pic. everything had power at first but now only the dash lights and the headlights do, blower quit.

I pulled the ignition wires off and jumped them and i'm getting 12.70V after the switch so I guess that's where I need to start.

But as far as some of the questions, I finally got my jack from my garage and it does have LSD. The paint was done by a previous owner who owned a well rep'd body shop down the road, I think it looks amazing.(Besides the mysterious scratches its getting in my driveway, I think my neighbors kids have been throwing **** around it.........)

Is that an aftermarket console arm rest pad? Pretty thick.

That turbo has been rebuilt by an authorized KKK technician ala red KKK tag..

6407 is the bigger compressor S1 turbo like it should have but I've never scene a "D" after the part number like that so it may have some custom guts in it or something.. Maybe it's to signify a 360 degree thrust bearing..

Seems Mr. Tuurbo has spotted one before.. Post from 07 in this thread..

Not too sure about the armrest. Gonna have to look into that.

@eddie (My names Eddie too btw haha), I'm very interested in learning more about the red plate + "D" and whether it actually signifies anything more that a rebuild.

From what I am seeing though the turbo on my 931(going by the last 4 digits) was only put on these 924's starting in 81'... Correct me if I'm wrong
