Default need help with water pump job

hey everyone, i'm planning on replacing the water pump next weekend but would like to know all the parts i need. so far (beside the water pump) i understand i need the water pump-to-block sealing gasket as well as a thermostat and thermostat seal. anything else specifically?

Balance belts, timing belt, and you'll want to replace any rollers that need it. Hard to tell in advace which ones those would be.

If you are creative you can cut the back cover in half just through the balance shaft pulley openings and under the water pump. This will let you pull the water pump without pulling any of the pulleys including the PITA crank pulley. I used a Dremel with a 3/32" hogging end mill bit.

Went out and looked at the 83 engine. the cut is from the top of the upper balance shaft opening down to the bottom of the water pump then horizontal across to the other side to clear the bottom of the water pump.

I thought I had a marked up picture but haven't been able to find it. I'll post it if I find it.
