Instrument pod from an automatic car, or automatic car with a 5spd swap. And the clutch pedal is on the floor. Looks like someone painted over the rust.

Looks as though it was pulled out of a field and given some fresh paint and newish carpeting. The underside reads 213,000 miles.
Where in the world did they come up with 1.8? And where is the Vgood part of this car?
The tires are sweet too. The best one is the Hakka 1. And that model has not been made for about 20 years.
At least there are plenty of photos to show what a prize example this is...

I agree it was probably a cluster swap. But the shifter area being taken apart and the clutch pedal on the floor made me wondered if it was a failed attempt at a trans swap.
Can you tell by the VIN which trans it came with, or just from the option code sticker in the spare tire area? WP0AA0948GN456154

There are too many clues that make me trust that this was always a manual car. The transaxle looks correct as does the sheetmetal in that area. The bellhousing on the engine, the hose off the brake reservoir (although not blue), etc. I don't know if the pedals are a direct swap from one version to the other and I don't know about shifter location.
They would have taken the shifter console off to put the better carpeting in. The clutch pedal on the floor is a common symptom of a failed clutch slave.
If this was a trans swap - there are no obvious (to me anyway) clues that this ever took place. It would certainly be way beyond the capabilities of these losers.
