Question OT: Electric motors

Hi All-

Sort of OT but at least car related. Wife's M class has a window motor that only works in the down direction. Upon removal, everything looks OK. Checked the voltage signal from the switch to the motor, kinda flaky but would show +/- 15V depending on which way the switch was activated. Now why would the motor only work in the down direction? Please bear in mind I am an idiot when it comes to electrical troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Electric motors do exactly as the switches or relays tell them to do.

Check the reversing circuit to the motor.

You could plug the motor from another door in the door that does not work to eliminate the possibility of a bad motor.
