Severian (OP),

Having taking both my old Porsches to Synthetic from dino (neither engine has had a full rebuild (still have used seals). Engine leaked as a result. Now I'm converting back to dyno until I do a full engine rebuild with new seals then I'll go to syn.

Noah,

How many miles before the leaking started after you switched to Synthetic?

I'm coming up on 3,000 miles since switching to Valvoline Synthetic VR-1 and I'd like to continue using it.
I go about 6,000 miles. Modern oils can easily do more, but for $40 it's not a big deal to me to just do it every 6-8 months or whatever it ends up being. I run M1 15W-50 full synthetic. I'm not going to preach this is the best oil...your oil is your decision, but in my area, it's like $22 for 5 qts so that's what I run for a street car. I change the filter with every oil change, mostly because I have a ton of them in a box and why not. Car burns no oil and the leaks are nothing to write home about.
