Default Interior Differences 924

I ordered a new/used heater control panel for my 81 924. The yard I ordered it from says it is from an 82, they are different.

Mine (81?)

Junk yard (82?)

Both cars have AC, so that is not it, online factory parts book shows one that looks like mine, both for early and late cars.

They do not appear interchangeable because they mount in the console differently.

Any experts know what year/model used which so I can try to get the right one. Also wouldn't mind returning the one I got if it is wrong for an 82.

Thanks, Greg

My late 82 car received the early early 944 HVAC controls that you have shown above.

That '82 setup is the same as my '84 944. Looks like '81/'82 is the cutoff.
