Default 924S finally getting back on the road

After almost a decade in my parents garage on the back burner while finishing a college degree, buying a house, getting married, and starting my working life my 924S will be getting shipped to me this weekend!

Its been awhile but it seems this community has stayed strong over the years.

A lot of us have sacrificed our fantacies (sp) to get our lives on track and sounds like you have too. The rewards come later, don't they? Let us know how the project progresses and if we can be of any help. Do send pics of the car.

Now onto the project of getting it road legal I've started a punch list of items that need to be addressed.
  • Change fuel filter
  • Fix alternator belt tensioner
  • Timing belt service
  • convert power steering rack to manual .. or repair
  • Change bulbs
  • change transaxle fluid
  • alignment
  • install stereo
  • remount rear hatch speakers
  • change coolant
  • pull old security system and
    associated wiring
  • tires (~10 years old)
  • flush brake fluid Completed 4/7/2016
  • repair parking brake cable
  • Install new hood struts Completed 4/7/2016
  • Install new rear hatch struts

I'm really hopping to get this done so I might be able to use the car a bit at the end of the summer. Ill edit this list as i complete items and as new ones are added.

I replaced both about 3 years ago when I first attempted ressurecting her.

What about the brake fluid?
Maybe you should empty the fuel tank and try to start it with fresh fuel, as well.

Best of luck!

Fuel tank was flushed three years ago when i replaced the lines.

Engine was run to enable getting the car shipped but I dont think I want to again until i change the timing belt. Engine in it now was put in 3 years ago and at that time the belt was cerca 2 years old with unknown milliage.

Good idea on the brake fluid, i replaced the soft lines and fluid 3 years ago but its time for it to be flushed.

Would going to a 195 55 r15 tire cause issues other than the speedo. The tires on it now are g force sport 205 60 r15 but must have put them on around 2003. I can get the new version of the g force in the smaller size.

You will lose ~.75" of ground clearance, as a 195/55 is 1.55" shorter than a factory 195/65.

From an aesthetic point of view, they will also look out of proportion.

This weekend I get a chunk more work completed.

Timing and balance shaft belts replaced, both "looked" like they were ready to be replaced with plenty of surface cracking. I've never seen the style balance shaft belt that was on this engine, the tip of the teeth had a grove running down the center.

I also repaired the AC/Alternator and power steering pump tensioners.

Next up is fuel lines in the engine bay as well as the fuel line from the tank to the pump. And while I'm at it i've got a new fuel filter to go in.
