Default One brake light works...the other doesnt

One of my brake lights decided to quit working. All other lights in the assembly work fine (blinker/reverse). I tried a spare assembly and it had the same issue. I cleaned the grounds...WTF? Would a faulty brake switch cause just one light to quit?

Pretty much has to be a wiring problem. I assume the left light is working and the right one is not? The left light gets the main wire that runs from the brake switch, then another wire is split off of that to go to the right light. If that wire is broken, it is likely broken at one of the ends where the connector is crimped on.
