New OEM fog lights leaves me in the dark.
Recently ordered new Porsche OEM fog lights for the '86 944.
They arrived in new boxes proudly monogrammed with the Porsche logo.
At $166.+ ea. I would expect the bulbs to be included. Checking back at the suppliers site, it IS mentioned 'bulbs not included'. .
There are three different bulbs available. Which one to chose?
55w,100w, or Silverstar.

Silverstar are a waste of money.
100W is known to crack the glass on 951 fog lights (heat), Don't know if the NA parts are sturdier.
55w is fine.
While you've got it there, could you do me a favor and measure the LxWxD of the complete fog assembly as you have it pictured?

I'll confirm with my supplier.
Being older with fading nightime vision these fog lights are crucial. While I try not to drive at night, the occasion does arise.
Maybe I will do a thread on bypassing the high beam shut off if and when I do this.
YES, I will measure.
Measurements will be made tomorrow, inches or mm?

INches or mm, either one is fine by me.
Re: importance of fog lights...remember that fog lights put light right up close in front of the car, and alongside. But having too much light right up close causes your eye to not see as well things out in the distance. So if you are able to drive at any normal speed (45+ mph we'll say) having brighter headlights/high beams is much more important than fog lights of any intensity.
No data on my end about NA fog lights and 100W bulbs - but my 951 lenses cracked, as well as a few other people who had repeated failures of the $200+/ea glass 100W is hot! Not to mention it starts to strain the wiring.
If you want to bypass the high beam shut off thing, an easy way (that I have done) is to unplug the factory fog light wires from the lights, and then daisy chain a power and ground wire from the MARKER/PARKING lights on either side. The stock wiring is sufficient for the added draw. This way, the fog lights will be on anytime the headlight switch is in position 1 (popups down) or position two (popups up, high or low beam).

55w is plenty bright. The NAs can crack too from the 100w's, yes even OEM ones. The difference is negligible in anything you'd notice with the naked eye while driving, standing outside the car you can tell the difference but driving the 55's are fine.

Ordered the 55w bulbs today. Supplier is sending at n/c with the rest of my order.
Did find page I ordered fog lights from and this page said it was complete, including bulb.

I think you need to find a new supplier. MSRP is $170.06 from Porsche but you can get them with the PCA discount or from Sonnen Porsche for $118.33. That's still a lot of money for some glass but $220 vs $320 is a significant savings.

Here is the thread on bypassing the high beam shut off and allowing the lights to work as DRL.

Does the lights from Sonnen come with bulbs?
