What is stock compression on an '83? I have an NA Tune and run 87 octane just fine.

I ran a few tanks of 87 in my '83 car when I had NA-Tune, never had any pinging. But I also wasn't romping on it that hard because I was having fuel pressure issues at the time.

Cold in the winter, up to 100* in the summer. I've tried and tried to hear pinging, but none.

The NA-Tune was actually designed around mid-grade fuel (89 octane). I recommend 91 minimum to account for some margin in fuel quality and state of the engine.

Spencer's issues was the result of switching to a non-standard NA-Tune MAF housing.

Spencer switched to a MAF housing which has about a 50% increase in cross-section. The switch in housing had the affect of telling the DME that their is less airflow. Since the DME uses an airflow / rpm = load calculation, telling it less airflow effectively told the DME less load. With less reported load, the DME targeted more aggressive ignition timing - resulting in pinging.

His issues was unique, and has no bearing on someone with the standard NA-Tune!

I'm running NA-Tune on my 84, 10.6 CR, 944 NA since August 2013 without any problem. No pinging, even on wot on the German Autobahn. And there, my car is running in fifth gear very often and easily into the rev-limiter, probably due to some more mods apart from NA-Tune (head work, cam with more lift, extrude honed intake, MSDS-header etc. ...).
Car is filled up here with 98 octane (RON) gas, which is very similar to your 93. Simply perfect. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you have the NBO2 hooked-up, then the system will use it.
If you do not have the NBO2 hooked-up, then the system will ignore it.

How well does this kit/programming get along with an offset cam key or adjustable cam gear?

It has no problem at all...I did back to back testing with my Rogue kit after advancing the cam 2 degrees (via cam gear) and got +4whp/+7wtq.

While I had changed the tuning on this setup prior to the "baseline testing", no tune changes were made when the cam was advanced.

I cannot recommend highly enough the MAF+cam advance combo.
EVERY ONE OF YOU should go out and do this.

Thanks. I might have to pull the trigger on this kit to hold me over until I have the time to play with a MS setup.

Is there a good source for the offset cam keys? LR doesn't seem to have them on the site. I recall reading somewhere that 4deg is the "ideal" offset?

Here is where they all come from...this is where Rogue gets his too.

Does the chart on their site look familiar?

Danke again. Ordered MAF/chip kit, a pile of maintenance items, and the 2/4 deg key set. Hopefully it'll help the low end grunt with a 951/LSD TA being pushed by a NA lump.

It helps a lot.
I have been running a 951 box in my NA since 2009 and love it...would not switch back unless I had to.
The car is just as fast (actually faster) than a standard NA in a straight-line race because 2nd gear is so long.

BTDT many, many times...NA w/ 951 box will pull every time.

Default Built race motor?

Hey guys, I've been considering NA TUNE for my race car, 2.5l with euro pistons, Michael mount hi flow head and a millidge cam with adjustable cam gear, running 180HP WITH A behe custom chip, will the NA TUNE adapt to my mods? Also running 100 octane race fuel with turbo injectors, I've been told that the motor is capable of 200 HP but the AFM is holding it back

Thoughts on 2deg vs. 4deg offset with an otherwise stock lump and this MAF tune?

I'm not overly experienced with the 944 DME specifically, but from the sounds of things you're in standalone territory if you want to get the most out of the hardware you're running. You should be able to dial in the maps on a stock/mod DME to a reasonable degree, but you would benefit quite a bit from a more modern and flexible controller.
