Hagerty Insurance Reviews?
Hey guys looking for a different insurance provider for my 951. Currently I have progressive but I wish to find something cheaper since the car is no longer a DD but weekend driver with antique tags. I did the online quote from hagerty and it was a better deal just curious for people experiences. Progressive had always treated me well without any issues but I have heard they are typically on the high side.

I tried to switch to Hagerty when I got my collector plates. They asked if I was planning on doing any track days, autocross, etc. I said I was interested in occasional autocross, but that was enough for them to refuse to cover me. So obviously I can't speak to customer service or claims handling, but just be aware that they aren't too accepting of even occasional track use. Not even autocross.

Hagerty is intended for very limited use.
I said I might drive twice a week to work in the summer and that was considered too much for them.
Once a week (or less) for the summer is okay though.... but that might depend on how you phrase it.
Their usage limits are not clearly defined, at least, not publicly.

I have 6 944s insured by them at agreed values. 3 are street cars with antique plates, two are race cars with antique plates and one is a track only race car. I also insure my trailer with tools with them. They cover everything but the track for me. Comprehensive theft etc. even incidents in the paddock are covered.

I had Hagerty on my 914, which was a very occasional driver, and which got crushed in a collapsed building... And they were great to deal with and paying the settlement.

I was storing it at a friend's two winters ago, and the snow load on the roof collapsed his barn.
Tragic. Hopefully I'll have the time to restore it soon.

I have Hagertys and Declared Value (15k) with long range towing (150 miles) on my 85.5 it think it is about $300.00 a year, never asked about AX or track days or milage I would use.

I use Hagerty. I like the fact that they support the classic car business in general, including help with our concours events. They are definitely aimed at folks that just drive their cars occasionally. In return for only dealing with folks that garage their cars, have another primary driven car, and only drive their cars occasionally, they can offer low rates. I follow several forums and have never heard any horror stories about Hagerty. I have heard a number of positive stories. Knowing the nature of forums, I take that as a very good sign! I was talking with a Hagerty rep last summer about the occasional driving part. He said they are not trying to discourage folks from driving their classic cars. But mentioning any driving to work or track events is probably not in your best interests. He gave me a general guideline of 2500 miles a year, if I recall. They don't actively police this but I can only suspect if there is a major claim and the car has racked up tens of thousands of miles, there might be some push back. And they do offer "agreed value coverage", which I like. I would say +1 for Hagerty.
Just as an aside, at the time that I went with Hagerty, I also inquired with Chubb. I was turned down because I had 3 comprehensive type claims on my daily drivers (insured with State Farm). Comprehensive such as broken side window during a break-in on the F150, new front spoiler on the Cayman when it hit a tire carcass, and a windshield replacement. Said I exhibited an adverse claim history. Sheesh!!!

I have used Haggerty on and off for around 20 years, fair pricing and good service though I have not had a claim with them. It is very easy to get whatever type of insurance that I need, whether a show car, sports car or vintage regular driver. They are both personable and knowledgeable on the phone which is rare these days.

Wow! I just did a quote for my 944 Turbo that only gets driven 5 months out of the year and it worked out to be almost $750 with 20k declared value using Hagerty. Thank god for Auto Owners Insurance as we pay around $500 a year with no mileage, parking, or driving restrictions. I haven't had a ticket or claim in over a decade too. You can probably do much better elsewhere without having to deal with all the restrictions they impose.

Holy Cow! Grundy just gave me a quote for $186 a year. Unbelievable! I wonder if they have crazy ridiculous driving restrictions? I only put about 2-2.5k miles a year. I might swap all 5 of my collector cars over to them. Anyone have any experience with Grundy?

How's Grundy for cars that see the occasional AX, and light commute duty? I remember looking classic car insurance for my '83 but realized that standard insurance was a better bet for what I use it for.

A friend uses them to insure in 914 as a light driver. He got rear ended and they paid out quickly with very little hassle. Was a hit and run..
One thing that is stated in his policy is you are not allowed to drive it back and fourth to work. So make sure you know the policy before signing up.
