It's standard threads. Counterclockwise to loosen. Good luck and make sure all pullies and washers go back in the correct way and not reversed and also make sure that they seat correctly.

Thank you Andy!! I appreciate the VERY prompt reply!! This web forum is theee best bar none!
Can't wait to read of your 951-NA swap when it is all done...did you go with a stand alone engine managment system?
Back to my belt change...

Make sure you tighten it back down to the ~150 ft/lbs required, or you won't get oil pressure!
This bolt can be a pain to get off. Unless you accidently leave a breaker bar on it and start the car (doh!)

i just did this job yesterday. take the radiator fans off - it will give you much more room. also, www.clarks-garage.com is an excellent helpful site. i could not have done the water pump job without his site.
as mentioned, a breaker bar will help. i literally had to stand on the bar to break the bolt loose, but it came!

Hey thanks everyone! I actually just came in from the garage to print off of Clarks Garage on how to remove the cam gear to replace the seal. Yeah I took the fans out, definitley a lot more room now. I just got both belts off and all roller except for the bottom Bal. Shaft sprocket....it is being a pain! I will be using the Kricket one for the tension. From what I have researched the "new" T-belt is 40lbs and a broken-in T-belt is 35lbs, and the Bal. Shaft belt is 28lbs for the 15mm...does anyone now what it would be for the 18mm? ( I know it is 3.5 +-.3 for the P9201). Just wanted to verify that those are the correct settings.
Andy: I just bought a 83' Callaway 944 with a fresh 86'951 engine with K28/8 turbo and TEC2, and it needs a tune run on it...the seller shorted the orig TEC1 on it and had it upgraded to TEC2, but never played with it enough to get it running properly afterwards. So I am learning that system right now...well after the belt job gets done on my 84' and the 83'.
Thank you all!
