I don't have a picture of where this was on the engine when I took it apart.

I don't recognize that part. Is it from your '84, or your '87 S?

Could it be a heat shield from a catalytic converter?

It looks similar to the Steering coloumn joint shield ?

There's some plates that bolt to the head, but it's not them...

It doesn't look like that part to me. And the steering heat shield is shaped like a half-cylinder, so I don't think it's that either.

Can you post more pictures of it (different angles)?

Hold on, is that thing straight, or does it have a 90-degree bend in the middle?

That angle threw me off, it does look like the motor mount heat shield (a little different than mine, though).

That's the part! Mine doesn't have the extra cutout though and I cannot locate anywhere it should go. Maybe it is supposed to be on the S and it got mixed up.
Thanks guys.

It bolts onto the crossmember, under the exhaust manifold. You must have an early '83, because I've never seen this part without the cutout.

Now I've found another part I'm missing on my 84. (I assume the 84 has one as well)
There is a whole box full of stuff missing that got lost when the PO tried to do a clutch job and gave up.
