OT: Rear Drive Ford Focus.....
I don't know if anyone else finds this interesting but this was a quote from an autoweek article on the ford focus....
"Ford highlighted the engine in a Ford Focus that had been converted to rear-wheel drive. Davis said that next year Ford plans to sell a rear-drive conversion kit for the Focus, with an expected cost of about $5,000."
Rear drive factory conversion kit? Very very intereting move on fords part, I know there are a handfull of Foci running around with mustang V8's and rear drive, but support from the factory to do so is very new.

There is a rear drive 3 door Focus drag car i see sometimes on espn. every time i have seem it it always loses control and crashes.
My Friend got a 3 door focus for his 1st car. he was being stupid, going 20 mph in reverse and hit a speed bump and turned the wheel right as he went over the bump, the car flipped backwards, rolling on the rear hatch, then landing on the roof of the car. It was him, and two other guys in the car, they all came out without a scratch. His parents are just as stupid and bought him another focus. I don't hang out with him much.

Although that is AWD, RWD is a good move. Makes that sport compact a little sportier.

Great, RWD Focus would be really sweet, short chasis, snappy oversteer, a car for me!!! although i'll never have the $5000, i'd rather Turbo my Miata to 220RWHP
If i had to pick again i'd buy a SVT focus instead of my GTI, that car handles like a dream!!!

Too bad we didn't get the Focus RS, they say its the best FWD car in the handling category...
but we are getting more and more of the hot little cars from all over the world so who knows that we will get next....

I could care less if it's a Ford. A RWD V8-engined Focus would be a blast.
Anyone remember the old Festivas into which some company in Cali shoehorned the SHO/Yamaha V6? The kicker was that it was mounted longitudinally where the back seat used to be. Huge 944-LeMans style boxed rockers to fit the massive rear tires. Crazy...

you are reffering to the SHOGUN, Jay Lenno has one w/ nitrus to make it that much quicker, and I met a guy that has one with a supercharger....

Nice! I first saw it featured in Sports Car International back in '93 or '94 (if memory serves me right, that's pretty fuzzy though). It was fairly new at the time. Reminded me of the Renault R5 Turbo IIs (though the Renault looked better).

I think someone mixed things up. The current focus will soon (in 6 months or so) be replaced by a new version. I will also be a FWD car, but this time ford has done some thinking so the chassis is designed with AWD in mind from the beginning. That means room for rear drive shafts and all other things needed to make the rear wheels spin too. The focus c max and new volvo S40 are also based on the same chassis.
