Bumping an old thread instead of making a new one

Having distinct function brake lights is a good feature to me, some LED conversions have much less distinction between the low and high power modes for these types of "dual filament" bulbs - this is a VERY BAD THING for safety!!

I'm glad we don't have rear fog lights in the USA - or the morons would just leave them on all the time - and we do have plenty of morons to go around.

Some of these morons even work at the DOT (well lets face it lots of them work there - very very over represented) - they are the people who allow us to have automatic front lights only - so that lots more morons can drive around at night without any rear lights on at all (not even really the drivers fault so much in this case! )

What Dr Bob says is also true - all S4+ lenses seem to be the same to me - mine also have the ROW markings by position. Both the bulb holder types (single/dual) will fit in all slots.

Alan.

Any simple way to achieve rear daylight driving lights on a 94 GTS ROW? I have already installed the relay for the fronts.

Regards.

I think you can just turn the fog lights on. Then, even without the relay, the front fog lights and rear tail lights will both be turned on.

The main purpose was to have front and rear DRL automatic controlled on/off by the ignition key🤔🙂

No simple way to achieve this - it is possible of course, but it’s quite a bit of work involving diodes/relay plus wiring to switch the rear lights

Thanks Alan.

I guess the connections could be done behind the fuse board?

Do you mind providing a scematic scetch for the solution?🙏🙂

I’m traveling In Asia right now - remind me in a week and I’ll get you some ideas on how you could do this.

So for what you asked to achieve you'd need the fog light relay output to also drive the rear markers (rear/side markers also for a USA car). For ROW that is all you need. These details are of course are specific by model year:

On a '94 GTS that means you'd need CE: B21 (L) and/or CE: B24 (R) (these drive the front Fogs) to be connected via two ~10 A Diodes to CE: K13 (Tail Marker L) and to CE: H14 Tail Marker R).
The diodes need the Anodes to B21 and/ or B24 and the Cathodes (ring) to K13 & H14.

This preserves the independent parking light function, it does add to the loading on the Fog Relay, but really not close to its rating. Note it does not turn on front* markers - the only front lighting turned on are the fogs. The wiring and Fog Light Fuse #6 should still be OK as is as long as the fog light bulbs are no more powerful than stock.

- Note on a USA car the fog lights turn off with high beams on and this is problematic since you don't want the rear markers turning off with high beams on. The best solution is to use the ROW fog configuration by deleting the secondary fog relay VIII and replace it with a 30/87 bridge (928.615.125.00) as in the ROW cars. This will otherwise work similarly for USA or ROW

* also note: it doesn't turn on front/side markers for USA models.

Thank you very much Alan for the detailed description.🙏 This can be very helpful for many 928 owners👍

I need to dive in to the drawings and see if I can figure this out😄.
