Default Battery wiring

New 928 S4 owner here. Having some intermittent idle issues. Still trying to avoid pulling off the intake manifold because it had a complete refresh by previous owner this summer. The car had a subwoofer in the trunk and upon inspection I did not like the quality of the wiring so I removed it with its wiring going to the battery. Two connectors were left which I originally thought were part of the sound system but I already had enough so I decided to try to remove them later and start the engine to see if there is any change in the idle. Engine cranks but would not start, resolved by connecting these two connectors to the positive terminal. They look in really rough shape but I'm still not sure where they go. I read the WSM diagram and from what I can tell they go to LH and EZK am I correct? Should I cut them a bit and put new connectors?

Another issue I'm having is with transmission shifting hard and late. I connected a vacuum pump to a green vacuum hose coming from the 5 way connector on the intake and it doesn't seem to hold vacuum at all. I kept that line disconnected and went for a drive to see if maybe that would improve idle (plugged the connector). I thought if it didn't hold vacuum it wouldn't make a difference on shifting harshness but now it's shifting even harder. I have a feeling my diagnosis is flawed. I jacked it up and tried to reach the modulator but failed, will to put it on a lift. For late shifting from what I understand is that it's controlled by the bowden cable. I adjusted all other cables in the quadrant and now I'm able to shift a bit earlier. Not sure how to adjust the bowden cable itself, is it on the transmission side or does the connection to quadrant spin to adjust length from cable or am I missing an adjuster similar to the one found on the throttle and pedal?

Really enjoying putting this S4 back to its former glory. Already done a bunch of other stuff. It is way more complex than any other car I've owned the closest being a BMW 540i. Not complaining, I actually enjoy working on Porsches even more than on the BMW.

Yes the two red wires connect to the positive terminal. If they are in rough shape take them off and crimp on new connectors. There are crimp connectors available with heat shrink, those work great.

As for harsh shifting: many threads on that issue. Most important: make sure there is no vacuum leak (check if the rubber cap on the vacuum modulator leaks) and make sure the transmission is filled to the proper level (not too much and not too little). Adjusting the bowden cable changes the shifting point, not harshness.
