Vinyl or Leather??
Is it a fashion faux paux to use leather on the door uppers, but leave the console and dash vinyl?
Seats are Rob Budd redone in spinneybeck, the door card insert will be a tan leather to match the carpet, and the wheel will be in a new leather to match the new factory shift ****, which is slightly grey, not a flat black like the seats or doors.
So I have some small rips on the drivers door upper card, and wanna recover them. Would a seamless leather be OK, or simply stand out too much because dash/console/glovebox is NOT leather.
This is the interior with the original seats, and clean.

Just get it how you like it, and don’t worry what anybody else thinks. But since you’re asking.. getting rid of the ricer steering wheel should be first on your list

as mentioned, its all your own personal preference
FWIW: a few years ago I had a dash redone in leather.(original was vinyl)
leather was stunning, but even being garaged, the sun and heat was not kind....

Leather every where with plush under-pad, contrasting stitching, French seams, deep pile carpet, mile deep paint shine, the lot...make it a GLT Grand Lux Touring

Jeff, since the dash (vinyl) pretty much flows into the center console (vinyl) and into the arm rests on the doors (vinyl) I think the top of the door panels (cards) would best be covered in something to match the seats (leather) and not necessarily the dash and its associated parts.
By the way, while you are into this interior work, I would suggest that you remove the center console and re-glue the bottom edges of it where is is delaminating.

Do what ya want. Steering wheel doesn't look bad at all. The irony.

I tried 3 different steering wheels in my 928 Spyder (OEM, Momo Jet, RUF Club Sport, & Luisi) and the Luisi, similar to what's in your pic, is the perfect diameter and also looks the best. The shiny metsl accents work well with the knurled aluminum Jager switch and gauge bezels, and I combined it with the CF hub from my previous Momo Jet wheel.
For reference, the center console, dash, pod, sun visors, & A-pillars are all Rob Budd leather - door panels are OEM out if a 90 GT.

Ya, Richard in Atlanta came into a super sweet console that I picked up, and will be swapping out next month too, good eyes Jerry.
I also have a nice headliner to swap in, as the front edge of mine at the windscreen in warped down, and the trim around the sunroof looks like someone tried to remove it with a screwdriver at some point.
I doubt I will recover that, but if I do the door cards in leather, i have to buy a min skin of 25^2', so I may have enough to do that, who knows. I would like a 'softer' therefore quieter interior, and that could go a long way towards that. A more 'fabric' or alcanterra would def do that, but 'stock' appearance is my goal, to both avoid concour - points, and to in the judges mind...create a buffer of appreciation for avoiding the temptation to "update" the car, like Petza has...which is NICE, but would turn off a concours judge (but turn judges and people in other types of events).
Undoing years of customization/updating from POs -and- doing the normal maintenance is harder that in sounds..

Because I can really see that now that you say it. Texture and color will be more important now.

What I do is pull the delamination apart carefully and blow any loose particles of foam out then drip the glue into the slot and let it sink in then I clamp the outer vinyl skin with a long piece of aluminum bar stock, about 3/16 inch thick and with spring clamps to the inside plastic. Leave it clamped overnight. I find good results, but can't say anything about how long this might be good for. I do think it will be as permanent as the original foam, which is essentially what you are ending up with.
