Default Fully Formed 928 Spare Tire Cover - - Revisited

I frequently get inquiries about my Fully Formed Spare Tire Covers that I make out of 3/16 inch thick Black ABS Plastic. The inquiries commonly start with a question about whether or not I still make them.

The purpose of this post is to reaffirm that I continue to fabricate these Covers and always have material on hand to do it with. Sometimes I even have one or more fabricated in advance of any given request for one. Now I happen to have 3 formed and have just shipped one by mail today.

The Spare Tire Covers are still $90 each and I charge $20 flat for S&H to domestic locations. Canada and the rest of the world a quite a bit more. Canada is $45 and the other places are now $60 for S&H.

The covers I make are copied from the one found in the S4s, but I think they are suitable for all the cars from 80 thru 95.
The version for the 78/79 MY have the swivel latch on the cover so they are a bit more, at $95.

Jerry, I'm considering replacing the wood cover I have now. My concern is that I don't have a spare tire in place and would be worried your cover would be damaged without the tires support. I assume that's how some of the original covers were damaged. What's funny about the wood cover is that I thought is from the factory as my Celica Supra has a plywood hatch floor flush with the top of the tire.

Tom,

The cover is quite stiff, so no worry here.

I have one without a spare but with a small sub in place.

No problem at all.

Very nice product.

I have one in my '82. It's a perfect fit.

The originals are made of corrugated plastic panels, sort of like a yard sign. If you're not worried about originality, I would go with Jerry's. His are far superior.

Hi Jerry - I’d love to get a spare tire cover too if you are still making them!

I did find that in the Phoenix heat mine did sag a bit (likely had a little weight on it - I have an electrical tool bag roaming in the back <15 Lbs). This was with a spare wheel in place. Fortunately I noticed it quite quickly and was able to rescue it - mounted a sheet of thin marine plywood underneath and glued and screwed it together. It is like a rock now. Its far stronger than the original for sure even in its original condition. In many locations this may not be an issue at all (as it seems).

This is what it looked like after mating with the Plywood and with the GTS shaped foam underlay glued on underneath

This is what the GTS foam looks like underneath - its quite well profiled

Its time to bump this thread again see if there is any further interest in these. I have had a small run of orders for these lately, and I have formed a few more in anticipation of some further interest, and with those all I need to do is the final hand finish. My price is still $90 each but my S&H is up about $5 across the board since mailing has gone up. Contact me by email if interested. jfeather@bresnan.net. You can also send me a PM here if you like. I am trying to monitor this membership more frequently lately.

Received quickly, well packaged and fits as expected. Two items from Jerry were both well done! Looking forward to the belly pans, when they are done
