front & rear bumper covers are bigger. They sweep around the car down low feeding into the lower valances(?) between the wheels.
My 79 is parked next to my 87. I'm fully aware of the differences. Perception is one thing, reality is they changed the nose and the ***.
Myself and plenty of other people like 18" wheels on the early cars. I think just peachy would look just as good with the same wheel in an 18".

As for the phone dials on a later car, nothing but compliments (except from Swaybar ). I cannot count how many times other 928 owners said they always wanted phone dials on their later car but were told they don't fit.
Again...photo taken shortly after install so the nose is a bit high.
16" wheels ride great but look dated. 18" wheels look great but the ride is harsh. A 17" would be the best balance of the two but I'm not sure what performance tires are available for 17" wheels. I know there weren't any options left for 16" wheels the last I checked and that was a few years ago.

Erik, that was Andrew who's not a fan of the phone dials on your S4.
With that said, I do like your 5-spokes better on the S4.
So I wasn’t able to drop the car on the ground. However it appears they are going to just squeak there way in there! Replaced the green wire to the distributor and in the process the vac lines to and from the throttle body disintegrated. That was the end of the daylight and the patience. Thanks Kibort for believing they would fit!!!!!
Haven’t ever even driven a 928 before so my first impression might be skewed. although some of my intentions for the car as a bad *** race car might be slightly far fetched, I do have the budget and the ability to have my knuckles bleed for an hour or two a day. It still need every piece of rubber replaced. Maybe next month it will drive!
Yeah those rears are going to be close, but until you take the car off the jacks, they look great.
Looks to me like the fronts might be the bigger problem. A decent radius turn at normal Porsche speed with a wallow or bump mid-corner and I think you might be fender shopping. Are both your front & rear fender lips rolled so the tire doesn't catch the lip and pull it down, creasing the fender?
When I bought my car it had Carrera LWs on it which look similar to the Carrera IIIs (spokes are pointy on the face) but the offsets at the front aren't as good. Doing exactly what I described above, turning into my neighborhood that has a small bump where the neighborhood pavement transitions to the road pavement, I actually had the left tire (one pointed out in the direction of the turn) catch the inner fender lip. It was a light enough catch where it only bent the lip and didn't go into the fender surface itself. I removed those wheels, rolled the front fender lips and installed the ones I posted in my photo further down in the thread, which have a better front offset.
Here's a comparison between the wheel and tire combo I had on the car at the time (yellow) and the setup you've now installed (green)
Your tire diameter is also 10mm larger than mine so you'll have less height clearance and you will be 3.3 mm further out than I was.
Be very careful for the first few miles and test the car in the driveway at full lock in both directions. Also keep in mind that the front suspension will continue to settle over the first 75-100, miles so even if it seems to clear when you first set it down, that relationship may change once fully settled.
For comparison, here's the same graphic using the original Carrera LWs (Yellow) compared to my current wheel. (Green). The offset change moved the outer lip in by 7mm and I've never rubbed it again since.
So your front setup is 10.3mm further out than mine and 2mm taller in total diameter - that's a fair bit, over 3/8"
335 wide rear tires call for a modified body.
