Benjamin are you also developing a short shifter for the 928? I believe I saw a video of this somewhere.

I confirm he has done it.

We have a different POV on his developpement, and i only suggested somme point, all the developpement is up to him by the way. It still has to be confirmed by the experience.

Yep

Yes, I chose to have it tied to the chassis.
So far so good with the "idea validation" prototype
The "Production version" prototype is on the way
(don't mind the length of the lever on this visual)

When the powertrain moves and the lever is attached to the torque tube, the lever moves.
When the powertrain moves and the lever is attached to the chassis, the lever also move. A bit more since you have the lever ratio playing against you.
Tough, on the 928, the engine, gearbox and rear differential being one rigid unit, the engine applies very little force to the mounts aside from its own wieght as it is all taken by the torque tube, hence it's name.
Engine mounts are also super stiff on the 928.

We'll see how it goes, I won't upgrade the mounts and test it in as many situations as possible as I do with all my stuff If I found it unsatisfactory, I'll try something else, tied to the torque tube.

Is it what transpires through my thread ?

I'm never coming back, not part of the plan.

My CIS and all the parts of the K-jet are going into the Le Mans 928 to put it back to 1984 spec

The EFI is done, it starts and drives. Just need to refine the tune which is the easiest part.

I found 4 wheels at work (yep, been back for 3 days but I already found gold ^^
4 OZ racing centerlock rims with slicks, I don't care much about the rims as they aren't the center locks I'll use, but the tires are interesting in size, I'll borrow them to see if the tires fit inside the wheel wells.

So glad Raymond is going back to the 16v for the Le Mans car! I was disappointed to see that he had fitted the S4 motor some years ago. Please keep us updated on that project. I really enjoyed the on track video you posted of it

Raymond needs a proper M28/11 engine then.

I'm also glad that a right engine will be installed again into this historical 928.

Yep, and 16" wheels too
That engine is a beast though ! It will go in the red one we stripped earlier !

Yes, mine.

He'll get my block, so he has the proper one.
I'll get his M28/21 because I don't care much, mine has no historical value.

We have to work on the brakes too, way too much rear bias because of the 930 calipers...
And we also need to open the gearbox and fix the return spring because it's a nightmare as is !

aaah so much stuff to do and not enough cocaine to keep me up

Don't sure you will find any return spring. Certainly you will find an "inextricable" situation though.

Good luck,

On verra, au pire on refabriquera un ressort
J'ai déjà modifié celui de ma boite pour que le levier revienne entre la 2 et la 3 plutôt que la 4 et la 5

Ahah thanks a lot for your kind words

So.. I got back working as a Porsche tech !
Easy, fair pay, access to tools I need ! Soon, a new shop will be created and I'll be the Foreman there, which is cool, even though we'll only do used car prep !

The 928 shifter's prototype will be there next month hopefully, and I'll try to glue on the roof Saturday !
I'll also be at the "Motor Passion" auto show in France with the Le Mans 928 and the Sim Racing setup the 23rd and 24th of March

Aight ! What's going on in the south of France ?

FIrst, 928 !

First AST roll cage sold for 928 ! Perfect fit ! Love it !

Pimp my ride got nothing on me !

I modified the pedals (and didn't take photo of the final product) to suit the driving position better. I added 1.5inch of thickness to the brake pedal.

I even got a battery tie down ! Luxury !

(and a Lithium Battery. Not the lightest, but free)

I did the assistance like last year for the 997 GT3 rally car

Despite a dead clutch, we finished the rally. I did miss the car as it was the 00 and I arrived too late.

I didn't come back empty handed

It fits

325 width...

No need with 300hp, and I don't like how the BRAID's look on it. But nice to know.

I worked on the 928, smoothed the angle on the carbon roof, and glued it !

sanding for good adhesion:

Degreased and cleaned:

Glueing

Used everything I had laying around ^^

Done

It's not going anywhere !

Started re-designing the rear control arms !

yesterday I was at the Paul Ricard track for the Ferdinand Cup !
We went with the 993
Check out the races (saturday morning and saturday evening videos) : https://www.youtube.com/@ultimatecupseries8374

Morning race.

Night race !

There was a 928 ! I spied a bit on it ! Nothing much to it, I couldn't identify the shock but they looked expensive... and the low front end really helped in the fastest corner ! It ran in the same second as the 993 supercup ! With 75 more HP though.

Awesome little 924 !

This 3.2 911 was in the middle category, but finished 2nd, crazy !

Winners in FC3 category (slowest)

FC2 :

And FC1 :

I can't wait to participate myself ! Next year there will be mutliple 928s !!

Ben.

I've tried with the helmet on, and the seat seems to be low enough, no seat rails, bolted directly onto the original mounts, with the seat as far back as the cage allows. I'm 5'9"/180cm

I was going to race in a historic class too... but they are way too restrictive...

same here Ben , "no seat rails, bolted directly onto the original mounts, with the seat as far back as the cage allows. I'm 5'9"/180cm"

We do have to put that FIA foam on the tubes were the helmet can touch. That is quite thick , again restricting hight.
