1984 5 spd transmission rattle
1st gear has clanky rattle, but then disappears as it I go thru the progression of 2-5. Also, know of any qualified transmission mechanics in Lexington, KY area

I think it might be the reverse idler gear which sometimes gets out of alignment and hits on another gear......customer once took his transaxle apart and made a custom shim to keep the gears from interfering.
