I've budgeted the same figures as the 928 for maintenance costs, just in case. There were only 1,633 Jaguar XKs sold in 2012... of that, they are split into coupe and convertible (majority convertible)... and then again into XK, XKR, and XKR-S. So, it is a very small number of vehicles in total that are like mine.
I second Erik's (Hacker) sentiments about the Jaguars. We have a 2007 XK and it has been a refreshing change maintenance-wise from the 928's I've owned. I feel it is actually the spiritual successor to the 928. The NA XK is almost identical in performance to the S4's and the 5.0 XKR's are on a whole different plane (510 HP) performance-wise. I have had literally no issues with our XK and we have had it for over 3 years. It is a gorgeous car, as is the 928. It even has the same door chime (928 content ). My only real complaint is the seats in the XK, the 928 has it beat hands down in that respect.
If you get one, you will enjoy it. Good luck!

The car is marked as sold... if anyone hears about the new owner, please have them reach out to me for additional information. Thanks!

Looks like your car ended up in Portland at a salvage yard. The guy I’ve used for a bunch of parts posted it. Sad. I do like the rear wing though

It's probably the person I purchased my 87 from, I've sent him a PM.

Stand up guy, it's in good hands all things considered.

Default Dismantler contact info

I've had a couple people reach out to me for the contact information so let me post his information and give you a personal reference.

The car was purchased from Copart by PK Auto Parts here is Portland Oregon. The owner is Pavel, but he also goes by Paul.

PK Auto Parts Inc.
971-506-9430

5105 NE 109th Ave.
Portland, OR 97220

I spoke to him about the car and he said it is currently in transit and he will have more information when it arrives.

I have purchased bunch of parts for my 928 from Paul and everything was very carefully disassembled and he was good about bundling large orders together and gave me good prices for what I need. He does a good job of keeping track of the MY and mileage and even how the car was totaled (eg Fire) for all the parts which I appreciate. Through our dealings I have developed a bit of a friendship with him so maybe my reference is bias.

But I would recommend him and he is good about answering questions.

Good luck!

Ahh okay... Pavel (Paul) is Prevet_03 on eBay!

Small world. Well, at least the car will help other owners restore their cars. Thanks very much!

Received an update from Pavel at PK Auto. Should go on to keep many other 928's alive.

That's how she goes!

I think I just bought the spoiler mount bracket off the car for 79 bucks.

Wow.. It looks like the hinge pillar and upper rail were either undisturbed or just barely compromised. It baffles me that this car totalled. The shop that wrote the estimate simply had no interest in fixing it.

It might not be an impractical idea, at this point, for others to consider sending cars in similar circumstances to me for repairs. I have a lot of 928 parts, the willingness to source those that I don't have, and the ability to restore that type of damage to pre-accident within an acceptable budget for the insurance company to be satisfied. Everyone wins provided the vehicle still WANTS to keep their car and clean title.
