A new Wahler stat and ring on the way from Katie at Porsche Marin, for 8am.

Ill have to drive straight thru to Colorado Springs tomorrow to stay on schedule.

Jerry, I wont be able to stop, catch up in SD.

FWIW, here is a ST log of my coolant temps at 98d at 4500', AC on.

It was a 30min drive @80mph from the rest area where I got a low coolant light (found the old seal was dripping), and filled it back up and drove back to my buddy in Sparks, NV. It got warm, but plateaued..didn't keep going. This may be normal for conditions, but at this point I need to rebuild trust.

Won some gas money at the Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City, KS so I can continue my trip

Jerry - I will catch you in SD.

I'm still planning my return trip at this point. Not sure when I'm going to declare I need a rest day, but as of tomorrow night I'll be at 2100 miles. Really exciting to have so many good miles piling up!

BTW - cleaning your car before Rapid City might not mean much... I killed half of the Kansas flying insect population today!

I'm crying uncle. unfortunately I wont be driving my 928. I have a new mystery coolant pressure issue & brand new $$ AC line decided to spring a leak. ugh

The good new is I'll be driving a Porsche. I'd much rather be in my 928 though, just ask my girlfriend. i'm officially mopping.

im ready to leave Reno tomorrow early am, finally.

https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...ml#post6413152

Im having ^this^ issue, where I think my temp gauge has gone wonky all of a sudden, and Ive been chasing it blindly. I have seen it in the last day...once or twice..dip down 1/4", and go back up..maybe a wonky sender, maybe a wonky gauge, I don't know.

But no knocks...at all are coming into the ST, AC is cold as heck...car is smooth as anything.

I'm....go to point east to SLC in the AM...watch the sharktuner recorded temps..and...just go with it.

Drove to the hotel, parked the car, and the fans are on low or medium, definitely not high, gauge is riiiight up there, ST show 196 degrees.
Just cruising at 50mph at 1am...needle is doing a new normal I think..

Amb temp is 78, the brand new 84c thermostat and seal from Porsche...which was driven to me in reno at 9pm from Porche Marin becaue the part counter skipped puting my urgent overnight box in the Fedex-out crate, and I threw a fit...so they gave my daughter the day off tomorrow to drive it to me. She got dinner, gas, and $60 too.

I've never seen so many references to air conditioning and cooling systems in an event thread!

We are sorry to be missing this event, but it was a bit of a longshot for us anyway. We considered flying out to Rendezvous this time but a family upheaval dictated moving my 80 year old mother from GA to CT, during a pandemic AND on "national riot week" that occured recently. Things are just normalizing around here now.

Hoping for swift, cool, and safe travels to all of you triple digit temperature blacktop warriors this week. Post lots of pictures of the scenery, cars, and of course those sweaty parties!

Looks like I will drive a 928. I was able to get the power steering sorted in the GTS4. None of the AC parts made it from Germany in time, but weather looks fairly temperate, so it should be better than drive to Atlanta last year. She looks pretty darn haggard, this was the year I was supposed to start the cosmetic restoration... but it will be nice to have one more drive with careless abdandon. Failed clearcoat means I dont have to worry about washing it, healthy dents and dings already require body work, and a cracked windshield rounds it out as a good road warrior you dont have to baby. I think I will kind of miss it being a "rat rod."

Just waiting on the printers to finish up the shirts. They had an issue with the press, so they are just now finishing up the run. Should be ready to pick up this afternoon... hopefully.

See you guys soon!

Martin showed me your route and it’s not what Harvey recommended for the Sharks. Safe travels and I have you on Glympse
