Well I just unloaded the trailer and cleaned it, and returned it to its owner. Thanked him tremendously for the use of it. Returned the car trailer yesterday as well. This weekend will be one of resting and taking it easy. Thanks to everyone for making this a special gathering of friends.

Harvey

Jeff --

My '89 came with a factory spares kit that includes that belt. A couple times already that set has been updated with new pieces, with that original set archived with original pieces. I think I put the used takeoffs in for spares, installed new when they are all off for the TB service that Jerry mentions. I have no idea how much original stuff you have in the spare wheel area, but you may have the part you need with you already, maybe good enough to make it home. You'll get to use some of those handy tool-kit wrenches WYAIT.

This has been a hell of a shakedown tour.

A lot of injured soldiers on this tour. Speaking of shake down, I told my wife I needed two weeks of shake down before I felt comfortable taking the car on a 2000+ mile trip with Roger and John because I knew they would be hitting triple digits along the way. I got two days of shake down after replacing everything from the engine fire and then some WYAIT items. No hiccups up or back. I got lucky.

Luck had nothing to do with it, my friend. That's just good, clean living!

Was I the last to get home? I wandered into the garage last eve at 7pm.

177 miles to go, and the alt belt let go..a few hours later, and I was back on the way.

The 339 mi/tank is off, I forgot to record -1- fill up on Wednesday night.

I cant express what a pleasure it was to meet new faces, gain a lot of respect for everyone I met..and for the effort Harvey put into this...be tough to beat!

HAHA..ya, I was there...

Pulleys were fine.

The belts outter half with the nylon cording, came apart, and the rubber band that remained just fell off. It was 2yrs old. This belt saw 140-150 3x during this trip.

I am dismayed at even the few 928 failures that have shown up here with the cars that participated; but I suppose that kind of result can be expected with cars as old as all of ours. Your situation does re-confirm for me that one should change all the belts with each timing belt and water pump change. I think I did that with the last two timing belt changes I have made, but didn't actually have it on the checklist for the next one I am going to do. Thanks for that. I hope you have made it home with whatever help you needed. Great to see you again!

Jerry, it was awesome to see what you do, and what you still HAVE NOT done in the shop!!

Id gladly stop by again, Hwy6 from Utah to Grand Junction is 2.5hrs of fun...and great scenery!

Ya..the car ran JUST barely until a rest area and came to a rest at 8.2v on the sharktuner screen, 5mi from Thunderhill Raceway near Willows, CA.

A fleet of track staff and tools/stands/etc quickly showed up with a belt from the parts store in town..was the wrong one, but I know and see everyone there once a month during normal race seasons. Had to make a 2nd trip with the help of the town drunk-van (Not a taxi, not an uber...) to get a properly sized belt, but it wasnt a hot day, and I was in no hurry.

The Top Gear production crew (no TV faces) were there when I went to return the tools, and enjoyed looking over the 928 while I was taking a 'bath' in the large sink/cleaning area...was head to toe covered in whatever falls and collects in a rest area parking spot. They were doing beauty shots for talent filming Friday (Today).

Hey Jeff -

I am still rolling Ron aka @AirtekHVAC is meeting me in Banner Elk for lunch. Home of Sharks in the Mountains.

I had to adjust my hood hinges as the high speeds caused the end by the windshield to raise up.

I will be home by dinner tomorrow or my wife will kill me

Default Thank Yous are in order

First and foremost the attendees. This community has so much support for our model it cannot be described.
Everyone in attendance and those that wanted too but for circumstances beyond their control, Thank you. How many idiots jump in cars 30+ years old and haul *** an average of 3,000 miles ? Just to drive another 500 miles on runs when you get there.
Harvey we all appreciate the above and beyond efforts you put in to make this an event to be remembered. Please let the management at the Cambria hotel know we appreciate them making sure we felt welcome and being more than accommodating to our needs.
Thank you to the 928 OC for your continued support with coins and the bus trip to Deadwood.
Now that the oscar speech is over, thanks Andrew for the drinks at the bar. Trey for goating us into the glimpse app, turned into a fun little game hopefully enjoyed by all.
Thanks to The scratched scared and broken cars that are only a Mark of pride in our community. We are the ones that drive our cars and celebrate what they were ment to be.
So from me to all in my community see you next time
Safe travels !
