Michael Willhoit, Dead at age 66...

Sad to hear. All of my dealings with Michael were excellent and he has done great things for the 928 community and value of the cars.

It is hard to know how it happened but he did get on the wrong side of the law... When people get in as deep as he was, it becomes difficult to get out with any sense of integrity. Without integrity, life itself becomes arduous. I truly wish he had been able to extricate himself from his financial problems.

I have occasionally wondered how the African Queen's siren song got so loud that he could not hear the drums beating in the forrest.

RIP Michael... You are already missed...

Sad to hear. He was a great ambassador to our model, and did much to enhance values of the good cars. Too bad about the drift off the track in his later years. RIP.

Sad to hear about Michaels death. Met the man several times on some of my road trips. Always had a stable full of beautiful cars. Also quite the bull****ter!

RIP ... His cars were always in the top tier ... To die at that age, seems like life caught up to him.

RIP Michael. I wasn't familiar with his African Queen house, so I googled it. No doubt the style is tailored to a very small audience, but some of the craftsmanship is pretty amazing. Midway down in the pics in the article below there's a stained glass Porsche crest in one of the doors.

We’re made poorer as a community without Willhoit as a cheerleader and dealmaker.

I am floored and such a sad ending. One of the best buying experiences of my life, he made buying my GTS a pleasure.

I will say that for years so many put him down for asking higher than normal prices for his GTS's. He was ahead of the curve and knew these cars were special. It is nice to see him getting the respect he deserved. Hopefully his family won't suffer from all the financial issues in his last years. RIP.

He was also defrauding banks by saying he bought or sold cars that he didn't have so he could build his "African" style house. https://ozarksindependent.com/2019/0...or-bank-fraud/

Allegedly....

Lately, I believe about .01% of what anyone from the government has to say. (Even from the FBI, which should be strictly a police organization...not an arm of a political party.)

I had personal interactions with Michael twice. Classy guy. Took care of any issues I had found with his cars, without any questions.

I choose to remember him, for that.
