... You have had your 928 long enough and you are basically the PO. .

(in otherwords you curse and swear at something only to realize you did the work yourself)

after 20 years I still cuss the PO. Right now about the 3 different oil cooler repairs covered in black spray paint.

... you have reinstalled the engine after a major mechanical and detailing, and have bolted up all the running gear on your A/T 928. You then go to bolt on the starter and realize you forgot to reinstall the starter mount on the back of the block that you removed for painting. You know the part, its the one that has to be bolted on the engine BEFORE you bolt the flex plate onto the crank.

...when your 928 tries to kill you on the motorway. Wondered why the accelerator was slow to respond after taking my foot off...so “leadfoot” here floors the pedal only for the pedal to return but the engine to keep accelerating, with a wife thinking I’m just being a boy racer on the motorway with the speedo sailing past 140km/h, sees me reach down to yank the pedal with my hand, whilst steering with the other and then sensing all is not well, hears me utter a 4 letter “F” word at about 160 km/h, slams it into neutral and clicks the key off and coast it into the emergency stopping lane. Opens the bonnet to find the steel cable had snapped and imitated a birds nest, preventing the cable returning to the idle position. The cable now hangs in the garage as a reminder when the car went rogue on me :-)

Adam, I would suggest that you get an early belly pan,
and bolt the starter to it see if it will catch the starter ring
